My name is Kimberly Miller. I contacted Marlen Madiger about the need for shoes & toys. I wasn't sure what kind of shoes and toys would be best. By next Friday I will have 50 pairs of "flip flops" in sizes I hope will fit the children 3 to 18. These are from community friends at church and the volunteer fire department need to know where to send them. I have written several companies, and have yet to receive replies, but it has only been a day. I am still working on the toys. I would like to know any ideas either of you have about the kinds of toys so I can let people know. I am writing all of the schools in my area, as well as my son's geography teachers to help find you all a partner school, which I think would be great for everyone involved. I will let you all know how this goes.
Please let me know how to get the shoes to you all.

Hello all!

I am working to get community organizations to help with the toys. I also have written to the board of education here, (they loved the idea) and am going through the process of finding a “pen pal” school, class, or something that could maybe communicate with you all (just occasionally), & have toy drives, school supply drives, and shoe drives through out the year. School is on summer holiday here right now, so this may take a while, but I think this would be a great way for children here to learn something new. I will continue to keep you informed.
