Income Generation Idea - Kiserian Computer College

"Yes We Can Self-Help Group" would like to start a computer college. They have already received two computers from local friends in Kenya. They would like to obtain about 10 computers total to start the college.
The group is very invested in kicking illiteracy out of Kiserian village and believes that one way to do this is to help community members develop computer skills. They have enough space in the existing building to support this effort. Electricity, security, and teachers are also available. The main issue right now is securing the remaining computers, necessary software and hardware.
For this task, we are seeking the assistance of a business-minded volunteer to help us develop a plan that utilizes the resources we have been able to obtain to date with a goal of developing Kiserian Computer College so that it serves as a viable income-generating business to support our activities.

Start with the basics -
- space
- electricity
- internet
- furniture
- computer hardware
- software
- teachers
- students
- curriculum
- accreditation
- money
- self-sustenance
- own resources
- income generation
On which precise aspect do you need advice from neighbours?

we already a have space which is enough for the computer college
we have electricity, security, trainers or teachers .we need neighbors and friends to help us with ideas or information how we can acquire computers hardware and software because is our main issue and problem we have we do not have money to buy them at the moment, this project will be generating income project
I can understand from your post that you have all inputs available except the money to buy the computers and software, and that your project will generate income.
Since income, and logically profits, shall be generated from your project, an immediate action could be a visit to your local bank to arrange a loan. This will put your project on the fast-track.
Simultaneously, you could continue your efforts for donations of used computers. I find plenty of such requests on nabuur, but I doubt if many requests translate into actual donations. If at all donations are made in another country, these are likely to be minus the freight expenses, and you will then keep waiting to raise funds for the transportation expenses.

Hi Daniel,
Please have a look at the Close the Gap website.
"Close the Gap supplies high-quality computers with appropriate software and network solutions for socio-educational projects in developing countries such as schools, hospitals and other programmes focussing on improvement of educational and information facilities."
You will have to meet some requirements, and then you can fill out the form and send it to them to apply for computers. More information here: http://www.close-the-gap.org/pages/frontend/ProjectProposalStart.aspx
I attached the application form to this post. Please read all the information on it carefully before filling it out.
Since the neighbours don't have all the information, you will have to fill the form out yourself. However, if you need help formulating for example your "motivation" statement, I am sure the neighbours will be happy to help.
