Condoms donated by Zerocondooms.nl

Zerocondooms.nl donated about 200 condoms for Kisozi. Herbert Iguru has helped design a leaflet about HIV/AIDS. These will be printed and together with the condoms send to Eddy who can distribute the brochures and condoms to the community in order to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS

Zerocondooms.nl requested Eddy to take pictures of handing out their condoms so they can include pictures of it on their own website

Hi Esther,

I want to congratulate you Esther for the awareness you are creating in the minds of people in your community.HIV and AIDS is a very very big issue in Africe. You can imagine down the line how parents have been dying leaving thier siblings to sufer. The cost of brying the bodies very expensive leaving the children with nothing to eat.HIV AIDS has no age limite.

Try to create the same awareness in the minds of all age mates.School going children from primary level to secondary level. This will put weight to the capacity of the awareness.

Stay intouch

Thanks
EVERLINE WERE.

Hi Esther
i must congratulate you for that posting but whats of great importance is that let us not put condom distribution ahead lets focus our attention mostly on educating the youth about engaging in sex at an early age,we let them know that they can chill until the right time to do so,in Africa we have on problem that must be addressed according by our leaders our churches have failed us our leaders have also done the same no one wants to lead the youth in the right direction once you start distributing condoms every one in Africa rushes for it we are not solving anything by use of condoms coz we are adding more and more problems to the receivees coz once they want to have sex using condoms at one stage they will turn remove it and do it plainly.
Anyway thank u for that am not saying that its wrong to distribute them but also focus your attentions on educating the youth about dangers involved in having sex at an early stage.

Hi Evan,
Thank you for your comment. It is my understanding that these condoms will be distributed to the adults in the community not the youth. I agree that abstinence and careful choices need to be addressed to the youth and all in the community. I believe HIV/AIDS awareness/information and facts need to be taught and distributed to all members of the community including the youth so that they can make educated, smart choices as they mature.

Esther,
Thank you for addressing this critical issue in Kisozi. Let's keep working on providing enough HIV/AIDS education in Kisozi so that all villagers can make educated, smart decisions in the future. We need to keep the parents alive so we have fewer and fewer orphans in the community.

Hi Evan,

Herbert (and I) made a brochure about HIV/AIDS prevention and the focus was indeed on education. The brochures will indeed be distributed to the community. The condoms were just a small part of it, but the main focus was on awareness and education. The fact that we got free condoms to distribute was great, but it is not that we advocate people to spend money on condoms and "have their moments of pleasure" without thinking of the consequences. Thinking of the consequences and awareness about how to prevent HIV/AIDS is definitely the most important thing. I hope people will see what is most important about the brochure and I hope that people will see that the condoms are just a very small part of a bigger idea!!

Esther

ps. I will post the brochure here ;)

Esther - what kind of written material are you using in Kisozi? One of the things we need to do is get Emma of Wakitaka to contact Mary negesa in Kyomya - she MUST have the books by now on HIV/AIDS and Malaria which I bought - they are to be duplicated and are to be shared with the 3 villages. They were sent out 3 months ago! I'll see if Emma will be call her this week and get that project started.

Here is the brochure and there is a part about condom use, but I feel the focus should be on raising awareness and educating people.

You can find the brochure here: http://www.hopealiveuganda.org/news.html

Hi Virginia,

I haven't heard from Eddy yet that he has received a copy of the book. If you can contact Emmanuel about it, yes please. I would like Eddy to receive the copy as well, as it could be very useful.

I managed to print the brochure. I will make sure as much copies will be made as the number of condoms Zerocondooms.nl donated. One condom will be included with each brochure. Next week, they will be sent to Eddy, so that Eddy can distribute the brochures to the community. Once again, the focus is on education and the prevention of HIV/AIDS!

Sorry Esther - I can get no one to contact Mary Negesa to see if she has received the books. I understand Eddy doesn't want to - but i have been waiting a long time for Emmanuel to call her - no answer from him - and I have now written to someone in Kyomya village who emailed Barb to thank her for her visit last summer.
Other than that - like the hoses - my hands are tied - until I hear from someone.
