A thousand new pairs of glasses

Eyeclarify in the Netherlands and an insurance company in the Netherlands are running a campaign to donate pairs of glasses to projects/NGOs. They are supporting Hope Alive Uganda this year.

After having received the first load of glasses, we have now received a new supply of free pairs of glasses that is even bigger than the first supply! There are at least a 1000 pairs of glasses. And even more will be coming! The pairs of glasses will be counted to determine the exact amount of this supply. This supply of pairs of glasses is so huge, that together with Different Africa Connection in the Netherlands - that also needs to ship goods to Uganda - we are trying to find companies to ship all our goods (which will include the sewing machines, the pairs of glasses and a donation of 600 study and reading books).

Thanks Fred.

The new supply of pairs of glasses donated by Eyeclarify in the Netherlands has been counted and sorted: this time there are 1201 pairs of glasses!

Apart from the pairs of glasses, there are about 10 hearing aids including batteries.

In case these spectacles have plastic lenses, these need to be accompanied with a case (which should also include a soft lint-free cloth) for storing the spectacles when not in use.

It is also necessary to educate the people about how to handle the spectacles and particularly how to manage cleaning of the lenses.

Plastic lenses are prone to scratch easily, and viewing through scratched lenses can further deteriorate the eyesight.

In the pictures posted here, I see plenty of spectacles, but no cases for storing individual spectacles.

Please ignore this post in case the above is already ensured.

In the supply I received this time, there are many many cases with cloths. It is an enormous bag full of cases (the blue bag you can see in the picture is full of cases with cloths now)and the ones in the pictures are just a few of the many we received. I agree, the glasses need to be handled carefully.
