update march 2009
The past weeks Eddy and I have discussed several things and we'd like to update you about what we have discussed and things that are being worked on right now:
• We have discussed the need of volunteers. Eddy would like volunteers to assist him, whether from abroad or Uganda itself. We are exploring and discussing options and any advice is still welcome! Williams and Charles have offered their help and have contacted or will contact Eddy and hopefully they can collaborate.
• We have discussed about computers. Eddy has requested computers from Computer Aid. Computer Aid replied they could provide computers, but unfortunately the shipping costs are extremely high. However, computers are needed to teach the kids at school. The question is, are there cheaper ways to get computers or can we get funds? How can we raise funds? Because until so far, no funds have been raised yet.
• Eddy has been in touch with Grace about the sexual health program Grace could assist him with. Hopefully, Eddy can establish a collaboration with Grace.
• Herbert Iguru and I have started working on a brochure on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. We have searched for information and Herbert will make the brochure. Eddy needs about 100 copies to be distributed.
• Eddy has land to start breeding cows as a means to generate income. Eddy has been involved in talks about getting cows, but this is all still an early stage.
• Eddy is looking for someone that can design a logo for Hope Alive Uganda
• We have talked about child sponsorship and we are looking for ways to promote this idea or to get things started. Tips and tricks are welcome!
• The domain name http://www.hopealiveuganda.org has been registrated. The site is being worked on.
Many things are going on, many ways are being explored. Kisozi needs its neighbours to continue the good work, so we’d like to invite you to continue contributing your ideas and advice and stay or get involved. Thanks everyone and keep up the good work!
