Hi Eddy,

Thanks for the information. You also mentioned clothing. What exactly do you mean and what do you need? What sizes?

Regards, Esther

Eddy - I see Esther asking for sizes - is she going to try to ship clothing to you? If so, how will she manage? it is incredibly expensive from the US - $40 to mail just a very few items - like 20 outfits that cost maybe $1 each!. David told me that in Uganda you can buy something called a 'ton of clothes' - a huge parcel of clothing that is used, but in excellent condition. Do you have that near you? Probably a better idea - let us know.

Hi Ginger,

No, I am not going to ship any clothing. I just asked Eddy that question to get a clear idea. I have never heard of what you mentioned about a "ton of clothes" but it sounds very good. Furthermore, I am thinking about what I can do about this, this task appeals to me. But I haven't got any plans yet. They will come, I am sure

Eddy-

I know one of the times we chatted, you mentioned sewing machines and tailor training for the students. Is this something that you are still interested in? In terms of blankets and clothing, I really would strongly encourage incorporating training for the students. Even with shoes, that could be an area students could learn from others who are experienced. Is there a shoe maker in the area? If so, perhaps they might be willing to take on an apprentice, or come teach a group of the students?

Regarding the fees for child sponsorship-doesn't this include a portion for required books, uniforms and things like book bags?

All the best-

Jennifer

Dear Yen Yu - welcome to Nabuur, and to our village. Hopefully Taiwan has a reasonable charge for postal services, because we have discovered that it is too expensive to ship clothing or anything really to Africa from the USA. Perhaps you can look into shipping via the sea - sharing a container, or part of one with a business, who will allow you to join them for free. I wish you the best of luck!

Hello Jennifer,
I have read the message and actually am stil interested in the sewing machines and tailoring.
But unfortunately the shoe making idea requires alot of things in place, you know there is having the materials and so on. But just case you have any idea on issues concerning that, i welcome it.

Regarding the fees for child sponsorship-doesn't include a portion for required books, uniforms and things like book bags!

As for now,
I wish you the very best.

This is really to throw a word of appreciation to ANONYMOUS for having donated 200$ for my village. Not forgetting Virginia Ellsworth who made sure this money reaches me.Thank you very much. I am so delighted about this and may the lord Bless you.
I did receive the money from Western Union Jinja Branch with out any difficulty.
This money is to cater for the orphans in my village.

When I talked to the orphans about this Donation,They were so happy and delighted upon hearing about it.
These are children who thought that they had been forgotten after the death of their parents.
When i got the idea of converging them together,I also had to instill moral in them never to think that they are nothing in the society.

With this kind of donation,It helps to uplift their little poor souls.
Thank you ANONYMOUS and Thank you Virginia Ellsworth

This link was posted in Kabondo (sorry, can't remember who posted it), but these people get the bed kits made up in the country they are required and are distributed in that country. That way they don't waste donated money on shippeing costs.

Might be worth checking them out (if you haven't already)
