Beds project

Wanted: neighbours that want to help save money for the children in Kisozi. The idea is to save the deposits on returnable bottles (the money that you pay extra when buying e.g. coca cola, sprite etc. bottles and that you get back when returning the bottles). The idea is to do this for a longer period of time and then donate it to the children of Kisozi. Are there any neighbours who would like to participate in that? Also, one could try and get more people involved (friends, relatives...) and ask supermarkets if they can leave a collection box where people can donate the deposits.

Wow! what a great idea - unfortunately in my school, all the clubs have 'dibbs' on the returnables here that they use for Their club money - I am hoping that next year, one of the clubs will agree to donate their proceeds, or at least a part of them. Also, unless, outside the grocery store is guarded, our homeless will take the returnables here in LA.... but I love the idea and the project 100%.

Here´s my first share, the first two euros. I will be saving all the deposits the next few months.
Esther
After having collected the deposits for two weeks, I have saved 11,75 euros. So, it is quite an easy way to save money for Kisozi!
The amount has risen to: 22,25 euros
HI ESTHER, THAT IS SO FANTASTIC.
KEEP IT UP.
TONNY.
Yesterday, I received a donation of 30 euros from a friend, which I added to this amount.
The amount is now: 60 euros
Wow....great job, Esther! What a great way to fund raise. Too bad we do not have bottle returns here in Illinois....some other states do, though.
Jen
The amount now: 66,25 euros
Hi there,
I am also happy to save some money for Kisozi this way.
Have started today by returning some bottles to the grocery store. Had also been saving for extra discount at this store (with each purchase you get stamps and x amount of stamps can be traded for cash money) and decided to return all the stamps and donate the discount to Kisozi as well.
Bottles was 2 euros and discount was 8 euros. So I'm at 10 euros to start with.
I will keep saving the deposits on returnable bottles for the next few months. As I am single it won't add up very fast but will try to get some family members to join me. I will make it my goal to raise at least 50 euros like this (which at today's exchange rate is around 70 US dollars).
Will keep you updated on my progress, and hope others will join Esther and myself and raise more money this way!

Jim,
Thanks for joining Kisozi! And how fantastic you want to help me with this! Until now I have done this on my own (and a friend is helping me this month by the way, he will donate the money to me and I will add it to the total amount). You can't imagine how happy I am that you want to help with this. In this way, we can double the amount quite quickly. Thanks so much for helping out Jim!
Esther
And the amount today: 73,25 euros (which is more than a hundred dollars)
Hi Esther,
Excellent. A hundred dollars gathered just from returnable bottle deposits!
Indeed let's try to double that and maybe that money could help with one of the tasks still pending.
The decision to join you on this was an easy one by the way; Kisozi looks like a wonderful project / village with some people involved that really want it to be successful. This way I can hopefully contribute to that, although my contribution is modest.
It's a numbers game, so let's hope more people will want to join us.
(If you're reading this then I'm inviting you! :-) )

Great to have you join in with Esther, Eddy and the rest of us - I am very pleased to 'meet you'. Yes, Kisozi is really starting to take off - Welcome! (or Wilkomen?)

Hi Virginia,
Thanks for the welcome, in both the English and German language :-)
You came very close (the Germans are our neighbours), but in my language (Dutch) welcome translates to 'welkom'. Not much difference!
I will keep in touch,

That's close to 100 USD, isn't it? I wish we had bottle returns, but like Jen, we don't here in CA - just recycling, which I have already committed to a dear friend for his kids' education! Keep it up - great work!
