Project: Supporting Orphans in Kisozi

Some poultry disease is affecting chicken in Kisozi. About 22 chicken died in HAU's poultry project and a majority of chicken have stopped laying eggs. Experts in the field of poultry rearing are requested to share their advice and experiences with us.
Hi Eddy,
It is advisable to contact the Veterinary personel for assistance. What I know is that there is a vaccination regime for poultry which poultry farmers follow .This coupled with good management practises will reduce mortality greatly. Also post mortem examination needs to be carried out on the dead birds to ascertain the cause of death. It is the post mortem results together with the signs found in the sick chicken that will give you the right diagnosis and therefore the right treatment.
So like I said you need to see the Vet.The Vet will also help solve the laying problem.
In 2011 - 2012 we worked with 12 Worldschool groups: final year students from the Netherlands doing research, writing an essay and creating materials for projects in developing countries and as part of their final exams. One of the projects the groups did research for and created materials for, was our poultry project. Our poultry project ceased to be in 2010, after all 600 chicken died of some chicken disease. The Worldschool group designed a brochure for chicken farmers. Hope Alive Uganda always brings the materias made by Worldschool groups to our projects in Uganda. We would like to ask someone to help us copy the brochure 30 times, fold it neatly and help us send it to our address in Uganda. Who would like to assist us with this task? Please contact us here or at info@hopealiveuganda.org

Why not put the info on a CD/DVD and mail it to all points who can print if off for individuals. Or email it. The following is taken from a document I have written. Email for a copy.
A CD holds 650 MB. The Bible is 1.4 MB. Therefore, a CD holds 464 copies of the Bible [or similar book]. A DVD holds 3,000 copies of the Bible. A dual layer DVD holds 6,000 copies of the Bibles. A Video DVD holds 10 hours of videos and a dual layer DVD holds 20 hours of videos.
Computers operate internally on 12v. Those without electricity use a computer, internally altered, to operate directly from a 12v battery with a solar charger [email for instructions]. A pedal/powered generator can be used. This opens up a whole new way to teach. Use 12v lighting at night.
I suggest that anyone wanting to raise livestock to begin with muscovies [insect control, eggs, meat. No housing needed as they roost in trees, etc and little feed needed; goats [meat, milk] They do not require feed which is also human food.
