Village facts

  • Kyarumba village is located about 300 kilometers west of Kampala, on the border with Congo. Kyarumba lies in the Kasese district, on the foothills of Mt. Rwenzori and is considered a sub-county within the Kasese District.

  • Kasese district was formed in 1974 under the Provincial Administration of Rwenzori district that was curved out of Tooro.

  • The (Bakonjo) Bakonzo are by far the largest ethnic group in the Kasese district. The Bakonzo are a Bantu-speaking people who have lived on the mountain for many generations, and whose culture is adapted to the steep slopes and climate of Mt.
