What NABUUR means for me
Nabuur means a lot to me. Its another home all together, the staff are very friendly and relate to me like a family member.

Nabuur has enriched me with internet, leadership and management skills.

Through NABUUR I have developed long term friendship with the Neighbours I have interacted with online.

I would like to mention the wonderful Facilitators NABUUR has connected me to. I have so far been linked to 5 facilitators, Emmi, Azania, Adriana, Eleftheria, and now Milena. Very passionate about the Kyarumba girls, very friendly , supportive and always there for me at all times. They have been a very good match for me and my project; thank you Nabuur.

What NABUUR means for the girls in Kyarumba
The past
In June 2005 Kyarumba Village joined Nabuur.com to benefit from the opportunity the foundation offers of linking up with passionate neighbors willing to join our campaign for girls education. The Kyarumba girls in western Uganda have had limited opportunity to acquire education. Only 11 women have had an opportunity to access university education since 1987 when the first one graduated. Girls access to education is minimal due to poverty, gender stereotyping by parents and the community, the opportunity costs of sending daughters to school, lack of girl-friendly school structures, pregnancy, early marriages. This was worsened by the 1986 to 2000 insurgency caused by several rebel groups which disrupted social service provision including education.

The present
Since we joined Nabuur, we have conducted a mini-survey in our community on the barriers limiting girls from achieving education. Neighbours have also been able to work with us to design a programme for community education on girl education, website www.kyarumba.org for attracting online scholarships for girls, and a plan for a demonstration school.

The future
We would like to launch an online donation event to help attract funding for designed girl education activities. We welcome neighbors to join hands with us to finalize www.kyarumba.org and also volunteer to set up a foundation to help in fundraising for our project.
