Developing the Kyarumba Girls Education Fund
Currently the focus is on further developing the Kyarumba web site and the Kyarumba Girls Education Fund, which is to serve as the basis for changing social patterns in the region in the long-term.
The Bwimaniro Women´s Club (BWM) represents the community of Kyarumba. The BWC together with the Neighbours of the Kyarumba Village at nabuur.com have already successfully developed several concept papers for “PROmoting GIrl Education” (PROGIE). The projects addressed so far, include: provision of scholarships to girls, educating parents and the community about the importance of girl child education and promoting girl child education in schools. At the same time, an Internet site for the Village was developed (www.kyarumba.org) in order to serve as a platform of general information and multi-faceted future action, reflecting at “shop-front” all the outcomes of the discussions at nabuur.com.
Discussions between the BWC and the Neighbours have prioritised, among all these projects, the development and launch of the Kyarumba Girls Education Fund and the development of the web-site. Since the beginning of 2006 this is the main project here at Kyarumba Village. This means that after some months of brain-storming and deciding upon priorities it is time for concrete action!
Interested to support? Then continue by clicking on one of the Actions Needed (see below) - there you can find specific information on what needs to be done! As discussions can sometimes be confusing to new comers (not only to new ones!), just post a message expressing your interest and we will let you know exactly how you can help.
Welcome to our Village!
