Finalising the content of the Kyarumba web-site
Status:

We need to transfer the information of the concept of the Kyarumba Girls Education Fund to the Kyarumba site and present it in an attractive and engaging way. You can find the concept document under "Resources".
Project: Previous discussions

Hallo everyone,
Jessica has e-mailed me the document with her input – she has made minor changes throughout the document and has provided names of Trustees and has rearranged the text of the BWC in the end. You will find the new document under Resources, as usually.
As soon I will be contacting Clare K., so that we start uploading the content to the web, please take the time now and read through it, help us improve it by editing its grammar and vocabulary or by rearranging paragraphs as necessary , especially our english-speaking friends!
Thank you,
Eleftheria
Hi Eleftheria,
I looked at the sponsorship section and I think that all we need to do is change the first little part of the doc to make the options very clear -
You can help the Fund by
Making regular contributions as a sponsor of
* a girl's entire education
* a stage of a girl's education
payments can be monthly, quarterly or at a less frequent intervals by arrangement with the fund.
OR
Making an individual donation that may be used for:
* the general activities of the fund or
* to provide ad-hoc assistance to eligible girls who do not yet have a sponsor.
This bit would go at the top of the section and the rest of the section would make it clear how much is needed to sponsor and the value of individual donations - in the existing text.
Clare
Dear Clare,
thank you for your suggestion. I have already updated the document accordingly!
Eleftheria
Hallo everyone,
in the past weeks we have worked on the content of the web-site. Even though parts of it still need to be improved, it is quite difficult to do so, without viewing the content under the relevant headings on-line.
I have communicated with Clare, who at the moment is extremely busy at work. However she said she will be able to make the time for uploading the content to the web-site in the following weeks.
I have accordingly updated the due date of this Action for the end of August.
I am aware that this has been a time-consuming process and would like to thank you all for your patience and for sticking with the project. As soon as Clare uploads the content to the site, we will be able to engage to a much more creative process.
Meanwhile you know... : ) Please keep on reading the document (under Resources)! There is always so much to do!
Thank you!
Eleftheria
Hello neighbors,
Hope you are all doing well...
Eleftheria and Jessica - attached are some edits I've made to the Introduction and the BWC page. Only two sections at this point, more to come later...
You'll see my suggested changes in red font. I've used italics for my comments and recommendations, and footnotes (using a * or **) with my text edits. I apologize for using this potentially confusing (and annoying?) system!
Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out how to make edits using inserts (with comments in boxes/bubbles in the margins of the document). Would anyone kindly be able to explain this method to me (assuming it's relatively easy to explain)? You can send this to me in my Nabuur.com mailbox. I would greatly appreciate your assistance!
Ciao for now,
Marianne
Hi Eleftheria, Clare, Marianne
Thanks for the continued improvement on our web doc, Clare the opening remarks for the sponsorship options are great. Marianne thanks for the edits. I will provide answers to some of the queries you have put forward they are really genuine queries.
We look forward to receiving the rest of the text you are currently working on.
Thanks
Jessica
Hallo Marianne,
hallo everyone,
as soon as I receive Marianne´s document per E-Mail I will update our working document.
Marianne thanks for taking the time, your contributions are always very substantial! Hope we have the luck to have some more text reviewd by you : )
Thanks again and a lovely week-end,
Eleftheria
Hello all,
As it's been ridiculously hot here today (105 degrees fahrenheit most of the afternoon!) I've been staying indoors and found some time to do a bit more editing. I've proofread up to page 6 (no changes made to the Girl Education page, as I see my previous changes/suggestions have already been added).
There are about 8 more pages that need to be proofread at this point. Perhaps this task can be divided between two other neighbors? - each one would have only four pages to look over.
Eleftheria, I'll email you a copy of my latest edits asap. Sorry I forgot to do so previously!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend,
Marianne
Hallo Mariane,
thanks for the document! I´ve made all your suggested changes on text and paragraphs and have uploaded the new document. I
have left your comments for Jessica in red - Jessica there are a number of points which Marianne raised in these first six pages, which you may wish to elaborate on and let us know what you think, when when you manage to.
Can someone please support Marianne on the task of proofreading the last 8 pages of the document?
Any Volunteers? : )
That would be great!
Take care,
Eleftheria
Dear Eleftheria ,Marianne,
I have been able to go through marianne's updated document and have made input were asked to.

Jessica
Dear all,
please find under Resources the updated document with Jessica´s latest input.
Please remember that the 8 last pages need to be proofread... So far nobody has indicated availability for this and for supporting Marianne...If you could find an hour or so to do this, that´d be great!
Take care,
Eleftheria
Although I am not visited your website, the important things to take into consideration are:
1. Colour: colour has great imapct in the website development some colours are hard to read. colour affect visitor's perception of the site. Good design is virtually invisible, bad design often screams out loud. Remember different colours have different meaning to the group of people, therefore you have to know the interest of audience before you choose any colour to use.
Content must be authentic, should show the author, organization and publishing date, this is to avoid outdated information and unreliable sources.
In the webpage you cannot put every thing, the content must be summarized and selected.
I advise you to upload only productive information, the information that address the goals and objectives of the organization/community.
Include pictures especially digitized photos rather than using scanned pictures.
I wish you all the best.

Dear January,
first of all welcome to our Village! It is so good to find you here : ).
Thank you for your valuable contributions, you touch some very important points, which we also tried / try taking into consideration while building the site and its content.
If you have some free minutes, you can visit the design of Kyarumba here:
http://www.clarekerr.com/kyarumba/
And you can also read the content we hope to upload soon here:

This document´("Webpages of Kyarumba") is to be found under Resources on top of this page. I will also send it to you per E-Mail.
Your comments on the web and on the content are more than welcome.
Have a very nice day,
Eleftheria
Hi all,
I'm so impressed by the hard work everyone has been putting in... I'm sorry I haven't been around for the past few weeks, work has been all-consuming I'm afraid!
I've spent the morning updating the site http://kyarumba.org with the new content. The only page I haven't worked on yet is How You Can Help - "Ways in which you can help support girl education in Uganda"
We can obviously make cosmetic changes to the site (adding photos) as well as further editing - i.e. Marianne's red edits on latest update (in resources) and any other suggestions. Also, images and content in the column on the right hand side can change for each page.
We'll need to decide what info can be linked to in order to cut page length down... ie. separate pages for "terms and conditions", "board of trustees" etc.
I will move "BWC" to the second page on the site, change "Getting Informed" to "How you can help", and put up the content for the latter page as soon as I find myself with another 'spare' moment. The project I am working on at present ends next week, 5th August.
I hope seeing the rest of the content up helps move this action forward to the next step!
With best wishes,
Clare
Dear Clare,
first of all welcome to the discussions again, it is great to have you back : )
Thank you very much for all the work you have put in updating the site.
Dear Neighbours,
please visit http://kyarumba.org and give us your feedback! We still have to work on the length of the pages, the avtice links, the photos etc...
I will not be able to post in the Forum for the following three weeks, but if I get the chance Clare, I will have a careful look at the site and comment.
Thanks again for all the work, the site looks good!
Take care,
Eleftheria
