Step one how to invite donor

Complete the website content, especially for "information page", donor like to study the relevant website by themselves, not only make decision base on the e-mail.

Enrich the updated information of previous contribution, effort or success, how many people involve in, how much different we made through the donation.

Being a village of Nabuur, we can use their current resource to send our brief introduction in any e-mail, start with the neighbour, facilitator, UN volunteer and then extand till the outside donor. Because we need to know the first feedback about the donor, how they feel our target and mission.
4.
Record and set up the monitor system to manage the donation, money, gift or all kind of donation stuff. Meanwhile report all proposed donors in the invitation letter.
5.We should let all donors make sure our organzation is justified and decent, well-management,not only ask for money.....
6.Organzation, mission,task,action plan and newsletter is necessary, it is the basis of our work.
7.Contact financial consultant, how to handle tax deduction issue and what kind of donation receipt we ought to prepare for the donors....
8. Increase the browse ratio of our village, specific task and updated latest performance/result and web link of this village website.
9.Keep the email in a small size, along with the impressed picture.

Step two Kind Advice for the Donation Thanks letter
1. Don’t ask for another gift in your thank-you letter, it is the worst possible place; meanwhile you haven’t earned the right to another gift when you haven’t even spent the first one.
2. You should say” thank you” and nothing more. Extending your thanks and extending your tin cup at the same time is plain rude. And bad for business.
In a study conducted by Penelope Burk and Cygnus Applied Research, Inc., 53% of individual donors surveyed said asking for another gift in the body of a thank-you letter is rude. Eight percent said they stop giving if this happens.
3. Say what you are doing with the donor’s gift.
4. Praise them for their involvement.
5. Tell them the difference their donation is making right now. Reinforce in your donor’s mind that sending a gift is a wise investment in the work of yout organization. Describe a recent success that made possible by the donor’s generosity. Or show in the other specific, tangible ways, how or where the donors gift is making a difference in the lives of the people that your non-profit serves.
6. Thank them for participating for your cause.
7. Not to use “dear friend”. The letter is a personal thank you from the heart of the president to this donor.
8. The opening sentence reveals the personality of the writer ad clearly shows that this letter was written on a particular day, by a particular person, for a particular reason. Openings like this resonate with donors, who want to be acknowledged by a human being and not a computer.
9. Your thank-you letters need to be sincere, but the quickest way to kill sincerity on paper is to speak in formal tones and generalities: “We are in receipt of your donation.”; “We are grateful for the support recently received from donors like you.”
Also, avoid impersonal generalities by naming the gift (amount of the donation, money or something with the proposed marketing value if you know). Be specific if possible.
10. Being prompt is being polite. Mail to your donation thank-you letter, cards and notes within 24-48 hours of receiving a gift.
11. Thank for supporter, not the donor. No on likes being treated like an automated banking machine. Somwhere in your letter, acknowledge that you value your reader as someone who supports your organization and believes in your mission.
12. Show a direct link between the donor’s contribution and your mission. For example: “Thanks to your generous gift of $ 100, we fed 52 homeless men last night while the temperature hovered around -18 degree outside. Those men are thankful to you. And so am I.”
13. Some donors supplied for a large amount of gift, donation, they deserved the formal visiting of your organization.
14. Thank-you letter should print in the formal letter paper with your logo or letterhead.
15. Ask donors if they are willing to get your updated newsletter of your organization. Not to add their name in the sending list automatically, maybe it will looks like a junk mail, especially the updated information is too much often.
16. Encourage dialogue. Show a genuine interest in your donor by inviting them to write you, or phone you, or visit your website, or drop by your mission, or in some other way strengthen your relationship.

I am currently in Holland, on invitation by nabuur management, for a leadership and management training. Together with other 7 Local Representatives Nabuur is preparing us to be Lead Local Representatives to be trainers for new local representatives.

I'm sorry to say that I have been unable to open the bank account in the USA since we need either the UN registration (for a UN bank account) or an Internal Revenue ID number as a registered non profit in the USA. The documents I received are helpful, but only if we have a US organization to channel the funds through.

Jessica, I have yet to hear from your friends for creating the US foundation, so Frederica Clare (Azania) and I have set up a local group to unite fundraising efforts in New York City. Hopefully this will help you and us in our efforts.

How shall org like our benefit from it.

As you might have known our village Kyarumba has been selected among the 20 pioneer villages for focus by Nabuur this year. And some of the key activities we shall be working between now and December is to finalize our site www.kyarumba.org with donation information, ensure there is a clear account where our donations can be routed and then have our site launched.

We hope your newly created org can be able to help in some way or the other

I am back from the summer holidays and I am glad to see that Clare and Perez are still supporting the project.

Milena I wish you all the best in facilitating Kyarumba, it is an exciting project and Jessica is a wonderful Local Representative, I am sure you will enjoy working with her, as I did in the past.

Before leaving, I checked in Germany if an account can be opened in the name of the BWC but for doing this a club or something similar has to be formed.

Please let me know where things are and if you would like me to continue looking at possibilities of forming a representing body of the BWC here.

Nice to have you back from your summer holiday, I hope you enjoyed your self during this time.

We have not done much since your departure; generally Nabuur is changing the mode of village discussions by focusing on featured villages.
We are among the featured villages though ours is not yet on line.

So we will change from this format very soon. We now need to get back to the village and organise our online event. Nabuur is going to provide us with maximum support.

Eleftheria how can we get the Clares, Marianne, Annette and the rest back? We need to get back on our feet now to plan the way forward.

I also take this opportunity to inform you that I will be hosting Magan Haas from the US from the Sept 24th for a period of 4 months and beyond, to come stay with me and focus together with us on the girl project. I think this is great as I am going to have a co local representative. She was forwarded to us from NGOAbroad Chief Executive Director who is very much interested in our girl project.

We are seeking people to help us transform one small part of the world for the better.

If you are interested in this, then please read on!

In Kyarumba, most of our girls miss out on a full education. This quite simply means that half the population can’t live up to their full potential. (insert some really good examples of potential fulfilled AND the broad benefits of – not just for the girl who is now a woman!) (eg improvements in local economic activity, self sufficiency in say having local girls become teachers, run businesses etc etc). Traditional attitudes to the education of girls and their role in life generally means that girls are married young and only receive the most basic education. These attitudes are hard to change.

The best way to change these attitudes is by proving the value of educating girls.

When girls grow up they usually become mothers. Educated girls equals mothers who can take better care of their children, bring prosperity to their family by better paid work or running their own business that requires skills. The whole village benefits from this, not just the family.

To be able to raise just one generation of girls who have been able to get more than the basic education will be the start of a real fundamental transformation – it will create the momentum of positive change in the status of women/girls and the local economy.

That’s why we’ve set up the Kyarumba Girls Education Fund. (link here) We researched the many ways that we could help transform the lives of women in our part of the world, and our Fund has been designed to ensure that girls are selected and guided through to fulfilling their potential (link to all the rules etc here).

I logged in just before you posted your latest messages, sorry not to reply earlier.

I am also sorry to see that you are still struggling on your on on the project... It is a pitty.

I know that Annette has been very busy with a Master´s Degree and had hardly time for anything else. Vivian has also been very busy with her studies. I think Clare, who redesigned the web, is a person who will participate immediately when she feels she has the time and energy for Kyarumba. About Marianne in the US, maybe the new Facilitator could write to her?

Anyway the main reason I watned to write today is the establishment of a Club representing the BWC here in Germany. First of all a group of seven people is required and a Supervising Committee needs to be formed. The Club must be registered and for this a specific set of questions need to be answered and detailed information given on matters such as the targets of the Club etc.

I am now trying to investigate if a person without related experience (me) can initiate such an action or if lawyers would be needed. I am also trying to confirm that a Cub can open its own bank account - this is after all one of the main reasons at present, for which we strive for this Club.

I will be writing more about the above but meanwhile here are a few things to think about:
1. I will try to find the people here in Berlin to estabish the Club
2. I will also organise the whole process
3. Who will translate the BWC documents in German?
4. Could we find through NABUUR a German lawyer to provide us with advice on all this?

Jessica it is funny, but now that I am no longer the Facilitator, the actions that must be done are more concrete for the Facilitator... : )

If you are in touch with Milena or if Milena is reading us, she can organise with NABUUR the above tasks, starting with finding two new Neighbours. I think this time our needs in Neighbours could not be more specific: both German, one with translation skills and the other one a lawyer.

I will write again, when I have questions to my answers on the Club.

We would like you to provide us with legal advice on what is required or how we can prepare ourselves to form the BWC branches in the three countries ( Germany, US, and the neitherlands, to help mobilise and administer funding for the kyarumba girls education fund.

Jessica thank you for your e-mail. I must admit that the continuing lay-outs of the NABUUR web-site are not ideal, given the limited time that we often have.

Aynway, yes it would be great if NABUUUR could initiated the search for two Volunteers here in Germany, a translator and a laywer, that would help us move forward.

Each and every pioneer village has a Nabuur staff attached to it. Our village has been allocated to Siegfried.

Siegfried, is it possible to get two German volunteers to work with Eleftheria in translating the BWC documents in German and also a lawyer to help interpret for her what it takes to set up a foundation in Germany?

She has offered to take lead ,setting up a BWC branch in Germany.
