Improved washrooms for Notre Dame High School boys

Dear Friends, l am happy to inform you that we received a message from the UK informing us that our friends in the UK/WALES have approved a grant of £9000 to improve the boys washrooms.

German visitors at Notre Dame High School

We are happy to inform all friends that the G8 German Africa Representative visited Notre Dame High School on the 20th October 2011.

This comes after the completion of the Electrification of Notre Dame High School Project funded by the German Embassy GTI. The project ranked among the most successful in Africa.

News from Notre Dame High School

It has been a busy time for us here.

Due to the increased prices for food and other commodities, we were forced to give end of term exams early so that we could close the term by 31 July 2011. The official end of term is 12th August 2011 but due to such many school have had to close early.

Volunteer teachers arrive at Notre Dame High School

We are happy to inform you that the first ever Volunteers arrived at our school. They are Andra and David. All the children are very happy with what they have started doing. Both of them seem to have experience and are hard working. They have started teaching.

Rainwater Harvesting and Food for Notre Dame High School

I am happy to inform you that a friendly organisation in the UK has donated to our school.

1. To build another 50,000 litre water tank and rainwater harvesting system for the older girls dormitory.

2. To buy food for our children during this very difficult time.

We are very happy and hope the water and sanitation of our school will improve further.

Drought in Masaka

There has been violence all over Masaka. But we are still here. The students are on school holidays.

There is a big drought in the area including almost the whole of Uganda. But it was very bad in Masaka area. We do not know how we shall do when the term begins on 21 May 2011. Food prices are too high.

Building the Water Tank and Washrooms

Its a happy moment to let you know that the grant received from friends in the UK has been used as it was planned.

We have managed to build washrooms for the older girls. Urinals for the older girls and then building of a 50.000 litre water tank for rain water harvesting.

The dormitory is complete!

We are happy to inform you that the work on the older girls dormitory has been completed. Photo attached showing GTZ German monitoring team in front of the complete dormitory.

Now the older girls have somewhere to sleep. We are remaining with the task of purchasing the beds.

Completing the dormitory for the older girls

Christopher has asked me to post some great news from Notre Dame High School in Uganda:

Greetings to you once again.
Happy to inform you that some one in UK read our website and sent us the money for the completion of the older girls dormitory. Work has started and we hope the older glirls will use it this term. The term begins 31 January 2011. God is great for the older girls who will have enough space.

Notre Dame High School has a new website

We are pleased to announce that Notre Dame High School in Masaka, Uganda has a new website http://notredamehighschool.cfsites.org

The site was created by a Ugandan student called Kasozi who will continue to work with Christopher to add more information and keep it up to date. It is great to see local volunteers helping the school!
