We are requesting for friends to help us write/design or create a page for which we can use to fundrise money for building dormetories,one for the girls and another one for the boys.

Christopher would like very much to have a website constructed to feature Notre Dame High School. The purpose of this website will be to showcase the work that has been done at the school,as well as the projects that are ongoing-such as the dormitories. It will also help provide valuable information to prospective funders and help solicit individual donations.
Christopher feels that this will serve as a useful tool to which he can direct people when writing funding proposals to demonstrate the good work the school is doing.
For this task we need to:
1. Discuss cost/maintenance issues-who will house and maintain the website? Are there free options out there that would work?
2. Decide what content areas the website should have.
3. Write content for the website.
4. Discuss the best options money transfer and accepting donations online.

What web editor are you using? With most it is possible to publish the site and still be able to make amendments to it.

Hi students!
Christopher has provided details of the school bank account and they are attached. Can anyone who has ever sent an international bank transfer confirm that this is all the information that is required.
This can be used for fundraising, if people want to send money via bank transfer, so should be included in that part of the websites.
Christopher, please explain if there are other ways people can send money to the school.

It would be helpful to see what information you have already, then we can add to it.
I can't answer all your questions, Christopher should be able to though.
There is a little more about the school history, subjects they teach etc in the attached doc. This is an old proposal document for a water project, but hopefully the basic information about the school is still accurate. There will be more in the Resources section of the site, although you have probably already seen that. Jennifer, do you have any more info anywhere?
Once the site is completed, will you be able to maintain it over the long term, or would you prefer to give the user ID and password to others to do that?

This is the history of the school.
Notre Dame High School is located 85 miles from Kampala City in the Central Region of Uganda on Bukakata Road - Mukungwe Sub-county Kirinda Village Masaka District.
It was founded by a group of voluntary educationists and teachers who felt pity of the disadvantaged and orphaned children on streets and in very poor homes and those whose parents died of AIDS. The school is founded on Catholic Christian faith pillars and is both secondary and vocational. The school is expected to accommodate 550 pupils both females and males.
NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT,
RAISING THE NEXT GENERATION OF UGANDANS BY PURSUING EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMIC AND PRACTICAL SKILLS INTEGRITY IN CONDUCT AND MORAL VALUES, SO THAT EACH CHILD WILL BECOME A REPONSIBLE AND PRODUCTIVE CITIZEN OF THE NATION.
OBJECTIVES:
1-To absorb children from absolute poor families who can't afford secondary or vocational training fees.
2-To educate and train helpless orphaned children in Mpigi and Masaka and Rakai Districts and make them useful world citizens.
3- To cater, train and educate the disadvantaged girls (drop-outs due to early pregnancies or lack of school fees or care).
4- To cater for basic health and nutrition of the pupils on board.
5- To research into problems that affect adolescence learning especially girl child.
SCHOOL DISCIPLINE TRAINING STATEMENT:
We endeavor to train our students/pupils to become good leaders by provision of Conducive environment to students/pupils pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills and in which the rights and needs of pupils/students are met and protected.
Here:
-The children learn and teachers teach.
-Children make choices and take the responsibility to experience the consequences of these choices in order to build moral character.
- We deliver the services on Biblical perspective. Proverbs 22:6 says teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older they remain upon it.
BASICS IN INSTILLING DISCIPINE AT NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL:
%u2022 We train the hearts of the children and create a moral bank in the heart of the children we care for, so that they know how to govern themselves from within rather than from outside.
- We train the minds of the children by providing formal education.
- We train the body of the child we care for by promotion of extra curricula activities (sports, music, creative arts, crafts, etc.)
The esction for the girls is almost getting finished,only that we do not have beds,matresses,mosquitoe nets and others for painting it.
The project will go just completing this girls part.
The boys will also want some place to sleep,which means,we shall embarck on it soon.
Onfundrising ;
we need one to help on water.
toilet,
furniture and beds,not forgeting lab equipments.
We have posted the bank details for donations of funds in case one wants to donate to the school.

How are you getting on with the website, please can you give us a rough idea of when it will be ready for us to have a look?
Once the site is completed, will you be able to maintain it over the long term, or would you prefer to give the user ID and password to others to do that?
I also wonder about the possibility of creating pages for Notre Dame in other places e.g. Facebook as a way of getting the school noticed. Although it may be better to do this after the main site has been completed. Thoughts anyone?

I just joined the group and read about your goals. I also figured there is a team already working on website creation. I would also like to help with the same by providing ideas for improving and may be providing other help if required. A group of students are creating the website as an assignment through the Worldschool programme http://www.worldschool.nl/
We are waiting for an update on how they are getting on. Once the site is online it would be great if you could review it and make suggestions.
