That gave me an idea. I wondered if St Patricks itself already has a sister parish – or would be interested in acquiring one in Africa. This idea first occurred to me when I saw a website for Our Lady and Saint Thomas of Canterbury Roman Catholic church in Norfolk - http://www.wymondham-rc-church.org.uk/st_charles_lwanga,_malawi.htm, not so very far from where I myself live in the eastern region of England. Their website also spoke of their “sister parish” in Malawi. From the link, you can see the mutually beneficial relationship that their partnership has developed. But why, I can hear you ask, am I writing to you, over in the USA? Well, I recently joined Nabuur, the internationally acclaimed website for online volunteers who want to help make good things happen in Africa, Asia and South America. The director there, Christopher Wamala, is seeking ways of making much needed improvements to his school and he asked me if I would try to think of a way to help them. As the creator of the WorldWide Connection Project - http://www.connectory.org - that is trying to link every place in the developed world with a population area of similar size in a developing country, I decided to try to find people in Notre Dame’s WorldWide Connection partner area. I then found that the WorldWide partner area for Uganda’s Masaka district includes Audubon, Iowa: 8082. USA - Iowa: Audubon, Crawford, Plymouth, Shelby & counties adjoining any of these, plus Lyon county 2225. Uganda - Central region: Kalangala district and Masaka district (Bukoto county and Masaka municipality) So I’ve been using the internet to find people in Iowa who might be interested in helping Notre Dame High School in Nyendo, which is situated within Masaka municipality.
