Dear Jenni,
Thank you very much.
Have seen your message.
Please, lam requesting you to read about our Masaka Village, and learn more about our work.
Of course we have done some work and much is still required in order to put in place a conducive study environment for both the teachers and the children who sleep at school and those who study coming from home.
As you are well aware, its not easy to get the funds from donors or individuals for project due to the global financial crisis.
We have to do one or two things at a time.
We need to choose one thing, write a project proposal for it,then we try getting the funding for that.
Ofcourse,i will provide information to you as we communicate.
But our current priorities are.
1.Completing of the girls dormitory.
2.Putting in place a dormitory for the boys.
Others can come as we move.
Otherwise, thank you very much for your intention to help us help humanity.

Hi Christopher
I agree with your message to me that it might actually be a good idea to raise money through sponsorship of the children in the school.
Would you like me to look into this?
:-)
Dear Lynley,
Thank you very much once again for wtitting.
Your idea is very good.
Please,go ahead and look into it...child sponsorship.
Christopher
Hi Christopher and Lynley!
Christopher, there are several villages on Nabuur that run child sponsorship schemes. If you have not already done so it may be worth getting in contact with some of them to learn about whether they have had much success, and how their schemes work.
I can give you a list of some of them if you want, and am sure that Lynley knows of others too.
We had a task related to this a while ago at http://www.nabuur.com/en/village/masaka/project/task/discuss-child-spons... , but I closed that one when you said you had decided not to seek sponsors and preferred to look at ways for families to make money for themselves, so becoming able to pay school fees. I am assuming you have changed your mind?
It is not easy to find a large number of sponsors, because there is so much competition between organisations running similar schemes. Many people will go towards those run by the big international organisations which get a lot of publicity.
I am not saying "Don't do it", but am encouraging you to do some research first!
You also sent me a message about trying to raise money by selling CDs:
It would be interesting to hear more about this, whether this is something you can do in Uganda as well as asking neighbours to assist with.
I don't think it is something I can do because I don't have the time or the contacts, but other neighbours may be able to, but you need to provide clear information first!
Are there any neighbours who have experience of raising money this way? If so, it would be helpful to know how you did this and whether you were successful or not.
Mary
CDs is quite a good idea if there is an outlet but they are quite slow and labour intensive to sell without an outlet.
Sponsorship is very difficult to get up and running, here in Australia anyhow, I will contact WV for their applicaton forms although it is apparently quite hard to get accepted and there seems to be a bit of luck involved (right place, right time etc).
What is the music, and how many songs? When I did the CDs I included photographs of the project and people invovled, including the kids (with permission from guardians), & these helped sell the CDs
:)
Dear Mary,Lynley,friends,
Thank you very much for the information.
However, wish to know what is the outlet?
1.It is african music.
2.African dance.
3.About 8 songs.
4.The schools owns all responsilities for the childs. The school can provide photographs and writen permission.
5.Of recent Amy Morgan from Scotland also accepted to help us sale some of our CDs For fundrising but on a tial basis. We did provide writen permission to her as we were posting the tapes to her.
However, our recordings is not the best and were possinbe it would require some improvement.
Your requested to go ahead and help to acquire an outlet so that we can helphumanity.
Yours
Christopher
hi Chris and LYnley. Nice work with the idea of cd items inorder to raise funds for Nairobi Wasteland. That's a worth project and can be of much help. To Chris you need to ensure that the content is presentable and edited properly to evade criticism. Also you could have tapped market on the recent Nairobi International trade fare. with LYnley the cs will catch a glimpse of curiosity to most tourist destinations like gold coast in Queensland and entire Oz. I wish you well and will both work to raise best for humanity. Thanks.
Lewls,Lynley thak you for all.
Please, may you write down your contact address so that we can post to you the CDs.
The truth must be told, the CDs cannot be as of quality as you may think. We did the recording locally, but they contain the music and african dance and drama.
