MATHARE COMMUNITY GIVE THANKS

Patmos Junior School has gone through the term successfully. Five project tasks on our list are receiving a gradual breakthrough.

On behalf of the Patmos Junior School Fraternity and the entire Mathare community,I wish to express my heart felt thanks to our neighbours for their contribution in many forms that has brought us to a successful end of the term.Whilst the school has experienced shortage of food for the children,it has been of great advantage to parents and guardians in that none of them has born the burden of buying school writing materials.
On the same note, the school has received funding from an anonymous donor which is going into buying of few text books. This is going to alleviate the difficulties teachers have been experiencing in teaching without course books. The key problem has been food crisis where as you know was the back born of forming this school. With the efforts made by an anonymous donor, we are in the process of maize farming and this is a project we are considering to be re-carrying for several years and together with the Maize mill prospect will ease the problem of feeding the children.
On our five project task list,We are left with sponsorship program which at the moment calls for school uniform and shoes for children as many put on torn clothes which put them to public shame especially the grown up ones.
With a good strategic plan that we are trying to put in place through investments and income generating activities, we aim at reaching the ultimate goal of raising enough money to build our own school and be in position to help many vulnerable children.
The work we are doing at Patmos Junior School has been appreciated by the entire community who expressed their sincere gratitude to our neighbours in the meeting on the closing day. They see bright future for their vulnerable children.
Due to the school supplies we received early this year, children have made a drastic improvement in their studies with a mean score going beyond 60%.We give thanks to the one who facilitated for the school supplies.
Bellow are pictures on work on the maize farm and school closing day which was attended by parents, teachers and members of the community.School resumes learning on 3rd May.
Regards,
Richard.

This is very good news, indeed, Richard!!! And such a rise in the academic success - we must make sure they have supplies again when they return to school - let us know the bare minimum you need - and good luck on the farm:)
