Working on the secondary school foundation in Matopeni, Kenya!

Dear Neighbours and Friends!

Thanks to donations made by generous private persons the construction work on the secondary school foundation in Matopeni can continue.

The plan is to set up the foundation of the whole school first and after that the building of the classrooms and other facilities can begin and can be done step by step.
At least one classroom, a laboratory and a part of water facilities/toilets should be completed during 2011. 26 students in class 8 will need secondary education in January 2012.

Thank to the newest neighbours for joining Matopeni!

Please check the attached pictures of work on the construction of the foundation.

Thank you all for a fantastic job during this year. You have helped a lot in many different way: through fundraising ideas, spreading awareness of the project, inviting friends on Facebook, making website, donations and through lot's of encourage. Thank you, ALL!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you! Let's keep working together for the needy children!

Kind regards

Dear Ildikó Stormbom and friends,
Thank you very much for work done.
However, lam suggesting that setting down all the school foundation as you mention may be very expensive ,you better build one or two classes and finish them.
Fundrising for a bigger project may not be easier for you.
Slowly by slowly made the crocodile reach the river.
Wish you a merry christmas and happy new year.

Dear Christopher,

thank you very much for your comments and very wise advice. It is exactly what we have planned to do from the beginning: to build the school step by step. It is still the plan. But as I understood the building engineer for the project has recommended to complete the foundation of the whole school at first because it will be much cheaper to do it at once. When the foundation once will be completed, the classrooms can be builded step by step, one after one.
But I fully agree with you. The whole fundraising process is very complicated, sometimes a nightmare, much work and we are very very few by the moment who are working on that. We had a whole team around when the primary school was bought, it was much easier then.

But we just don't give up! I believe that the high school will be built and I dream about hundreds of happy children, boys and girls getting secondary education and a brighter future. Everything is possible when you always have these children's faces on your mind! Christopher, you know that, you see them every day! The children give us power and wish to fight further, don't they?

Kind regards and thanks,

Ildikó
