Project planners needed ... come help us plan our school!

Status: Finished

*~*CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL NEIGHBOURS ON REACHING OUR FIRST MILESTONE AND COMPLETING THIS ACTION!!*~*

We've established that a permanent school needs to be built for the children of Matopeni as their temporary structure is in constant danger of being swept away by a potential mud slide. Now we've come to the point where we need to put together a project plan! Project Planners, prepare your pens - this will be right up your street! We're officially building a school for 197 children to begin with, so a lot needs to be done.

Hi all!

Ron, great job to date - we're definitely moving in the right direction! :-D

Yup, agree wholeheartedly with Ron - jump on board and join in - Rome wasn't built in a day but it needed neighbours to get a finished City!

We're so close to finishing this action - with one more push from everyone I think we can get this finished and move on. So what are you waiting for? Let's get cracking!

As always, if anyone has any queations or concerns please do feel to contact me.

Chrissie :-)

Hi Ron

Ok my feedback - only as I see it - do any neighbours have another view?

Requirements I think we need to identify what rooms will form our school - not just classrooms eg: washrooms - how many? kitchen? teachers room? etc this needs to be discussed - i think this needs to be seperate from classroom facilities. Possibly architect discussions will need to be given a longer timescale - we don't know how long it will take to find one willing to help us. (I'll come back to timescales later on!) We need to move the costings part under Identify building size. We won't be able to work out actual costings until the size of the building is known.

Ok, all I have to add for the time being on requirements. Feedback on this greatly appreciated!

Chrissie :-)

PS - I'm going to do this one post at a time so that we don't lose any of it!

Ok, had a quick look at the business plan part and all seems fine in this bit. MIght need tweaking a bit further down the line, but all key issues are there.

What are you thoughts neighbours?

Again, all looks good to me - I'm sure over the next few days I'll think of other bits that need to be added on.

Neighbours - what do you think? Do you think everthing is covered in this section or are there some bits missing?

Chrissie,

There is an inevitable link between Knowing the costs, putting them into the business plan, and being able to use them in the funding document.

Please see enclosed.
Will change soon.

Ron.

Hi Ron

Thanks for the changes :-)

I've also added on our fourth action will look at the first phase of our plan - requirements. (I've been doing a lot of "behind the scences" stuff this morning on the village!)

You're a star Ron and without you we wouldn't be this far ahead. Thanks again.

Chrissie :-)

Hi Alex and welcome back to the thread.

Thanks for your contributions. I'm beginning to see what you are now offering - it definitely wasn't clear in your email which is why I asked for clarification (if you don't know you should ask philosophy!!) but am clear now.

Ron has put together a project plan for us which you will find under the View Resources Tab. Why not have a look through Alex and give some feedback. We may have missed out some key steps and it would be great to try and get it right first time, so dive in! By looking over your first contribution of the three I can already see a few things that we might not have yet considered.

All Neighbours - We've also started the first part of the plan over in our Next Action. Why not head on over and see what you can contribute?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I just wanted to post over here a suggestion from Lynley and Huynh that is posted on the other thread - I don't want it to get lost in the ether!

Huynh talked about maintaining the school after completion in a financial sense. Lynley suggested that we add this to project plan when we start looking at the financials. I think this needs to be added into the funding section as a forward projection and should be looked at once all other financial issues have been looked at. What do other neighbours think?

Our glamorous Project Support, Ron - would you be able to update the funding part of the plan when you get time?

Chrissie :-)

This is a copy of the mail out that I sent to all neighbours today:

Matopeni Update: Project Plan

Hello to all our Neigbours!

Our Project Manager, Ron from the UK, has put in place a fantastic project plan so that we can all make this school a resounding success. If the project is to stay on track and be delivered on time we need your continued support and help.

What YOU can do to help

Look over the Individual Parts of the Plan (This will take no longer than five minutes)

Give your feedback on the plan and suggestions on the action thread (Again, five minutes tops)

Let us know on the Action Threadwhere your interests lie. For example, are you good with figures? Could you help draft a funding covering letter to organisations?

Any questions? Contact me either through the site or by email: christina_e_wright@yahoo.co.uk

Well done for all your efforts to date!

Chrissie
Matopeni Facilitator
