Provide Mosquito Nets to 360 Orphaned Children in Mawoito
Status:

Step:
2
This task is intended to combat the high rate of malaria among the orphaned children in the community of Mawoito. Therefore if provided with nets, it will help in combating the spread of malaria in the community. Malaria is currently the most killer disease in the community of Mawoito. It poses a significant threat among the children - especially the orphaned children who lack parental care.

Dear neighbors,
This morning I got a call from Tonny Mulamba form Mawoito village inquiring from me where I bought those nets that I issued them to our beneficiaries this week and I directed him where they can be found or available . Good enough he knows that place very well. The seller is called Mawaizi, his phone number is +256 701 039 752 from Jinja.Another issues of concern is that, if any one wants to buy uniforms at the cheaper prices you can go to the main street in Jinja, opposite Busoga FM.
I am going to be available always to help those in need of any information.Active as i am and as we all desereve to be in the network.
Thanks,

Thanks Esther for 'Eddy's info' on where to buy the nets.
I can always tell when you have written it, and I am very, very appreciative for the potential lives saved by now sharing this info.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the information. You definitely can get a price break by buying a large quantity of products at one time. Is it possible for groups in the surrounding are to group the quantity of nets needed tpgether and make one major purchase next time so that everyone can share in the price break? If so, it would be less expensive and free up funds for other tasks.
Pam
Tonny was able to buy 80 nets for the most vulnerable today with the very kind donation of one of our newest neighbors, Cathy. Some of the nets are larger than the kids!!! Each one will probably help 2 children, so this is a great gift. Thank you Cathy for jumping into our village and helping out so generously. God Bless.

Hi Virginia;
Thanks so much for posting the picture - I'm really glad I could help at all, and it's great that Tonny could get so many nets for the kids! Thanks to you and Joanne for your kind words.
I know that there is still more money to be raised for the village and I wanted to let you know about www.betterplace.org where you can set up to receive donations online. I have just registered HOPE Children's Foundation Africa (from Kawempe Village) there and it seems like a good alternative to spending so much on money transfers. The way it works is that you set up a project you need money for, and you get as many people as you can to vouch for the project (this is how they build trust in the project and encourage people to donate), then when your fundraising goal is met they send you 100% of the donations. So, the catch is you have to raise the whole amount, but if you just set up small projects you might not have to wait long. If you have any questions about it, let me know, and I'll be happy to share the progress we make in Kawempe.
All the best;
Cathy.
Hi Ginger and Cathy,
This is so wonderful, the kids look really happy. Is there need for more nets? Maybe Mawoito, could also participate in the fundraiser for malaria nets we are planning to organise with Emmanuel from Wakitaka and Paul from Jinja Central, if it´s not too far away from Jinja and there some motivated volunteers. Could we maybe use this wonderful picture for the campaign? It really shows how happy one could make a child with a mosquito net.
best,
Maria
Thanks Maria - yes Tonny certainly needs more nets - I can't remember how many exactly, but he could tell you, and he would be thrilled to participate in the process and certainly thrilled to use the picture of his youth with nets - they do look great, don't they?? I'll contact him directly-

Hi Mariaz, thanks for your comment. In fact we still need more nets and i will be happy if our village is also involeled in the fundrising for more nets for the community.
Please, i would request you that you also add mawoito village on your list and you can please use the picture.
Thanks.

Hi Tonny,
Thanks for letting me know. I cannot promise anything, but I think we can do our best to fundraise for the three villages. However to build trust among potential donors we would need some more information about your village. I do not know so much about Mawoito, so maybe could you send me the official registration of your organisation, some more pictures, and if you have a video. If this is possible, maybe you could make a short video with your camera telling why the kids need mosquito nets and show how the kids live. This would add a lot of value and show people why their donation is so important.
I will create a project for the three villages on betterplace, once this information is provided.
Thanks,
Maria
