Hello Ronald and everybody,
I'm aware that I'm joining this discussion where there has been loads of progresses done here and I've missed a lot but I have read most of the posts posted in this section. However, I have a question in mind, which is about funding. Do we have funds to build this training center? I've gound Global Giving, which looks quite interesting for this project, but I'm entirely not sure if we can relate this project with them.
Regards - Baginda
Hello, Ronald,
I think Architecture for Humanity are the team for us.
The difference between them and the Community design is that AfH are professionals, whereas the Community design look more like a bunch of students with "good intentions".
Besides, the Community design share projects with architectural aims, just to discuss them. AfH do what they do to help other people, which is what we need.
I'll keep in touch.
Emanuela
Hi Emanuela,
I have just visited their site and i am exremely exited about the work they do. For those who have not visted the site yet this is what Architecture for humanity does:
Architecture for Humanity promotes architectural and design solutions to global, social and humanitarian crises.
Through competitions, workshops, educational forums, partnerships with aid organizations and other activities, Architecture for Humanity creates opportunities for architects and designers from around the world to help communities in need.
We shall get in touch with them soon.
Ronald
Dear all,
try visiting this web site as well: http://www.architectureforhumanity.org/.
These architects, based around the world, help local communities develop projects and have quite a few projects in India and Sri Lanka to their credit.
I think they are definitely the people to address for help.
Emanuela
I have visited the centre the design community website. And realised that they can help us to guide us. If we cintact some of them online

Ronald
Greetings
I would like to also thank Emanuela, for gives us a real example in Italy.
She also let us know that the centre also deals with tourism. We have a lot to learn from it.
Yours
Ronald
Dear Emanuela,
Thanks so much for another idea regarding the design for the training center in Moung Russey. I think it is high time now to evaluate what's the best design for the center which is also affordable.
I have already sent Kimsorn the original blueprint for assessment but I know the community is still open for comments, ideas and suggestions.
Again, thanks and God bless!
junjun
Ronald,
I read you have this blueprint of a project.
Should you need more examples, it might be useful to address this community http://www.designcommunity.com/.
Some architect there might have projects available for you.
I am actually an architect, but I don't know any expert who might have designed a training centre to use as an example or a model.
Emanuela
Dear Ronald,
hereis the design of a training centre for tourism-related activities in Italy, plan included: http://www.cts.it/index.cfm?module=static&page=w&s=tca_training_center.
As you might be able to infer, the centre is made up of two classrooms, a computer hall and a Great Hall.
Actually all the four spaces are meant to be multipurpose.
Each one of the two classrooms can house 12-20 people. The Computer room can house 15 computer "stations" (and is equipped with PC Pentium 4 each one allowing for internet access, Windows XP professional, 17" monitors). Consider that you may either buy notebooks or Pcs on the web (Dell have very convenient offers, for instance, selling Pentium Pcs for about 500 Euros), or contact companies that produce computers and ask them to donate you used Pcs.
The Great Hall has 70 seats.
The materials listed in the web page I just sent you are the following:
- overhead projectors (I guess at least three)
- microphones (at the least six, I guess: one for each lecturer and another one for each audience)
- tv projector
- photocopier and fax
- multimedia station (dvd player, videorecorder, etc).
They have a phone number: I am going to ring them up in order to ask them about costs.
Regards,
E.S.
Dear Junjun,
It is ok if the design is already with Kimsorn.
Hope Kimsorn can avail us some details such that we can send it to pontential donor.
Ronald
Dear Ronald,
I am sorry to tell you this but I have sent Kimsorn the original design and what's left in me was the photocopy.
The design which is in my position right now is not very clear and I think we need to coordinate with Kimsorn regarding this.
junjun
Dear Praveen and Junjun,
I thank the Facilitator of Khunti for sharing with us that vital document. i have been making some comparisons and realised that this document will help us.
You indicted that you already have a drawing in place.
We were looking for a professional to help us in the design. Fortunately , Javier Rico a neighbour of Moung Russey is a professional in this field and he promised to help us. Request Junjun to send the informationabout the centre to Javier. I just think that is more than ready to help us.
Have a good weekend
Ronald
Dear Praveen,
Khunti Model for a training center is a wonderful alternative! I think Kimsorn should take a closer look at it as well as all the neighbors involved.
It's great that you were able to share your knowledge to us. And it would be nice if we can achieve the common goal we are looking for the betterment of the community!
Regards,
junjun
