Finding Volunteer / Volunteer organisations that can help in setting up and organising the centre

We need to get Regular volunteers from within and outside Moung Russey that can come in Moung Russey to help the centre start on the right path.
These volunteers can come from already established Volunteer organisations.
Individual Volunteers can be in the following categories:
-Those who have Retired from active work
-Students in their vacations or this volunteer experiance could be part of their studies in a related work
-This could also apply to those who are working but they are willing to get some time off to participate in this project.
-And any willing individual who able to participate in the centre.

Hi Everyone
I am new at nabuur.com and was attracted to this village since I was recently in Cambodia (Jan-March 2006). I spent 2 months to help launch various projects in a 230 ha farm (http://community.webshots.com/user/jackyfoo) at Sanghe (near Sdoa which is about 90 mins car drive from Battambang). It was a pity that I did not know about Moung Russey earlier.
A side mission was to look at potential sites in Cambodia for the Swedish effort on "Environmental Pedagogic Center". East Africa has 9 EPCs, the Baltic sea countries have their own too. There is an interest to expand the EPCnetwork into Indochina. Since I was going to Cambodia, the EPCnetwork coordinator asked me to take a preliminary look for sites. EPC deals with several subject areas, including gardens, water, solid wastes, solar energy, environmental protection, etc.
Nice pics in photo gallery - thanks to Sa Kimsorn
This is my first login into nabuur.com ... I am still discovering it and learning how to navigate.
I like the software very much.
more later

Hi Jacky,
You are very welcome to this community.
It would have been a great opportunity for us to have benefited from The Environmental Pedagogic Centers. Can still consider Moung Russey. Any way we still focusing on a Training centre for the youth. And we think that we need to exploit every avenue to reach to that Goal If we still have a chance to benefit then we can also consider taking it. This is because if an Environmental Center that deals in gardens, water, solid wastes, solar energy, environmental protection is set it could also support our because. Do we still have a chance ?
Nice weekend to all of you
Ronald
I am happy to say that I find contribution, images and discussion activities in Moung Russey village as one of the best and advanced at nabuur.com. Congratulations to the leadership and facilitation.
The site identification of EPCs will be formalised if travel funds become available. The idea is to travel to the 3 Indochina countries to identify a couple of promising sites in each country. Then a workshop will be organised to gather invited guests to present their on-going work. From this workshop the EPCnetwork will start with one partner from each country.
Moung Russey village is interesting because there is an existing group of "neighbours" and active leadership.

You have many photos for Moung Russey. Congratulations.
Q: are all the photos related to Moung Russey village or the training centre ?
I dont know if it is the limitation of this software but at www.webshots.com, it is possible to move and arrange photos within an album. It is also possible to create more than one albums.
If you are limited to only one album, then I suggest the use of a pre-fix to group photo e.g. WS1: ..........(for workshop#1 photos)..so as to distinguish other photos that are not related or part of the Moung Russey village project /training centre (e.g. Ankor Wat Temple photo)

Are you aware of the Centre for Livestock and Agriculture Development (http://www.utafoundation.org/utacambod/utacam.htm) khieu_borin@forum.org.kh
If you have a chance to be near Phnom Penh, please try to vist this place to learn about their centre was established and their training programs for farmers.
Moung Russey village has another issue for discussion:

are you expecting to find a sponsor(s) to fund the construction of the training centre ?
Q: where is this proposed centre going to be ?

Hello! I will post the information request for volunteers on http://pods.zaadz.com/international_travel_and_volunteerism. Let me know if it is difficult for you to read, you may have to register to view. Also, I was wondering if you had a place for people to send donations on line, you might get more people to make donations. I know the network for good may be a good place. Also, Yahoo has a new search engine called www.goodsearch.com where a penny can be donated to your organization every time someone searches for a word.
Hello,
I'm going to Cambodia next month and would like to volunteer to work full-time on the project in Moung Russey for at least 2 weeks if this would be useful. Can you give me some information on what exactly needs doing, who I would be working with, where I could stay etc?
Thanks,
Jenny
Dear Jenny,
Kimsorn will be happy to note that you will volunteer in the village and it is really a big help! Your talents, skills and experience is a big help to the people especially the children there. Expect Ron and Kimsorn to give you details soon!
Best regards,
junjun
I would very much like to follow the process of the preparations for Jenny Hannon (AU) to Moung Russey so that we can learn how it is done.
This information would also attract other people to become volunteers when neighbours know the process.

What are your assumptions when it comes to money matters when you declare the above ?
>where I could stay etc?
would you expect to have free accommodation ?
To Sa Kimsorn
Q: what are the facilities you would provide (free of charge) when you receive a volunteer who would arrive at Cambodian Youth Development Center at help you ?

Dear All and Janny
I'm very happy happy to hear about you willing to Cambodia and volunteer to MOung Russey. I would appriciate for you and I would to share information to you that: in the last visit of Dr. Larry he spent all for him self and I invited him to have diner my house at evening.

I have my own wooden house lacated in contry side about 3 Kilometers from Moung Russey district. My family consisting of my wife two sons and one daughter. The house has place for you in staying but we don have fan or aircondition, we use the charge battery for ligh at night time and use water from own pond for bath and cooking. We share on whcih what we mention above.
I happy to serve or host what I remaining have because the youth group or community don't have budget to pay for any. Now how ever I'm so difficult to find the internet service it very far and my old laptop supported by Dr. larry is broken.
I hope my mention will reply to your question if not please let me know more.

First of all I would like to welcome Jenny and Hina to this community. Jenyn thanks for that great offer to visit and help in the project. Last August Kimsorn organised a Training workshop by Dr.Larry Hubbell from USA. Hope Kimsorn will communicate more details on how the hosted Him which Hotel or Guest House he stayed in . Such that you get the Travel detail. Since it is going to be next month you my need to get to him via the phone this is because Kimsorn does not get online quite often
I will contact Dr. larry and then get back to you after Dr Larry has given some detail on how you can go about your travel.
Rebecca has A wonderful idea of geting donations online and I think for starters we can use google search engine to see if it can work for us.
Jacky, Junjun and Kimsorn thanks for all the effort you are putting in this process

Maybe since you do not have access to the internet I can help with any research needs you have. However, I found that he "goodsearch" engine that I was talking about only is for US Nonprofits, now, although they will change soon. Sorry for the mislead. Also, if you have ANY documents I can edit, I am a good editor and can type documents fast. The other website is
www.networkforgood.org and
www.goodnewsnetwork.org, I will look to see if they can help international non-profits.
Take care and thanks, Rebecca.
