We need to use every opportunity available to get funds for the centre
Most projects do not rely only one one funding mechansim.
You might have not that we have introduced to new actions needed.
This because we need resouces for the centre that is Human resource and and Funds. In the meantime Volunteers can be very important hu man resource.
In another action needed we are trying to find alternative ways of raising finds for the centre. We hope that by getting alternatives ways it will help us get some finances to get us started as we wait for any funding agency to accept our proposal

Fundraising Tips
Teens, Crime, and the Community (TCC)
Funding a project can be a tough job. But a lot of TCC students and teachers have found creative ways of getting support from their communities for the things they want to do. Here are some fundraising tips.
People give to people, not to programs. No matter how worthwhile your program, it is your relationship that sparks the donation. Establish something you have in common with the donor. You may have to sell yourself as much as the program. After all, you are its representative. Speak about why you personally are involved and committed to your program. Be open, friendly, and honest. Represent your program as an investment to feel good about.
Ask in person. It is easy for a potential donor to throw away an unsolicited letter. A personal appeal commands immediate attention.
Use your friends to make contacts. This simple step will start you off on a positive note and will secure you a more attentive reception.
Know what you are asking for. Are you looking for money, meeting space, food donations, a bus, a PA system, or an endorsement? If you are asking for money, what is it for? How much do you need and how much are you requesting from this potential donor? Have a one page summary of the program or project ready to give to the people you meet.
You won't get it unless you ask for it. The number one reason people donate resources or volunteer their time is because they are asked. Take time to research your possible donors, then explain how their help is needed to make your program successful.
Teens are great fundraisers. Adults are impressed with young people who display determination and commitment. When you are seeking contributions for a youth program, teens are the best advertisement of the program's success. Young people can speak from the heart of the need for youth programs. Their passion and zeal can move mountains.
Try to match your need with a particular donor. People are more likely to give if the donation can also provide them with some type of benefit. (Example: ask a local hardware store to sponsor a "Community Clean-up Day" and provide the supplies.)
Remember, everyone can help in your cause. Work to utilize all types of donations, including someone's time, materials and supplies, monetary support, or a personal endorsement.
Greetings to you
Those fundarising tips are met to guide us in ways in which we can raise funds for the centre.
Having read through i realised that we have to try to match our need with a particular donor.
We need also need to set objectives that when donors look at them they can know that our objectives are address a particular problem, can be atainable, and can be realised in a given period
In addition to that we have also to realise that we have to utilise every opportunity that comes our way this because " everyone can help in our cause".
We should "Work to utilize all types of donations, including someone's time(especially through volunteers placement), materials and supplies, monetary support, or a personal endorsement.
Financial resources are very important but we can also look into other donations that can be material in nature. Carole also advised us on this

Dear all ,
We can start by Organising a Fundarising event in Moung Russey. We may not neccessarily call it a fundarisng event.
This event can target Funding organsations , Individualswho can pledge . We can invite ambassadors , representatives of International NGOs among others.
This event can include exibitions, culture shows. Elementary schools in the area can make presentation.
local represetatives can then make a presentation on the our proposed project.
In the end funds can be raised. Stakeholders can then also offer they contribution in this project in a meaning ful way.
What is your suggestion on this
Ronald
Ivybridge Youth Centre Project has used a range of fundraising events which included a "Party in the Park" with local youth bands, which was attended by 200 young people, and a "Fun Run" which involved 250 runners.
Ivybridge Youth Centre Project
http://www.ivybridge.gov.uk/community/youth_centre.htm
Another example is by Menzies College community program in Cambodia which began in 2001
Students from Menzie work in the orphanage, visit numerous other community projects, and learn about the history - both tragic and hopeful.
In addition to that each year a large group of Menzies residents raise funds for the Community and even visit Cambodia to develop community projects.

Hello Ronald I want to help you about this things. your idea is great and we can do it. I like the one you mention "fun run" but what if we will organized "marathon event - running for a cause" and ask the help from banks or other private organization for sponsorship at least this will be of great help and i have some experience on that.
At least you are not only promoting for a youth centre project but also you are helping the country to attract tourist because in marathon its all about eco tourism event.
I want hear back to you later
Ritchie Basilio
Greetings
I welcome Ritchie, Felomina and Jaiyidah to this Community. Ritchie's
idea of Marathon event is great . it will great attract a lot of attention to the problem.
Ritchie you can give us more details on how we should go about it.
Thanks alot
Ronald
Ritchie,
I love the idea of a marathon. Would you hold a 5K or 10K run that would take place at the same time. For many, the idea of a marathone is hardly a "fun run."
Blake
Thanks Ronald and Blake
It is great to hear you guys. Im a marathon enthusiast of course I participate last year the 42 km run. and I guest the organizer have collected great returns due to this event.
The marathon event is divided into different categories and this being held at the same time but in different routes but they will start and finish at the same place. We have fun run only for 5km, 18 km run for students and veterans, 21 km run and the full marathon 42 km run. All participants will pay for their registration to the bank. likewise in our case we pay USD100 here in Brunei. Actually its an international event and there are many participated. Its a run for a cause the money collected is for the blind children and it earns a lot.
So the first things we must do is to make a project proposal with the title of the event, the goals and the objectives of the event and the site where it will be held. then we must forward this project to the department of sports in your country for approval. once it will approved thats the time we will look for sponsorship and one of those is the banks and other private departments.
I will give you more idea tomorrow because i left the leaflets in my house. just tell me if it is ok and i need more of your suggestion guys.
Ritchie
I found the site of the last year event that was held here in Brunei Darussalam.
http://www.bruneimarathon.com/home.htm
try to browse this to give us more idea.
Ritchie
Greetings to you all
Thanks Ritchie for that contribution
Hope Moung Russey Would part of the event but it is a rural area. Would such area attract sponsorship?
Or we can shift it to an Urban area.
The main Objective could be to raise funds for Moung Russey Training Centre.
We can also learn a lot from the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon which takes place in Cambodia.
Francis is back after being away for about three months. he has sent me an email regarding the marathon event and this what it he inquired about
Dear Ronald,
I am just now back home after 3 months. The idea of marathon event is good
for drawing attention of the population for a cause interesting the
community as a whole. However up to you to check how much financial resource
it may bring in for your project activity associated with the marathon
theme. However it is a very good idea that you need to pursue.
Regards,
Francis
It seem Cambodia has had a number of Marathon events in the recent. This will make the work easier. For example the
Kamchai Mear to Prey Veng Marathon was scheduled for 26 March 2006 as Fundraising Event for Rural Cambodia
for details check the following Link

In this event they had student and volunteers.
Ronald
Dear Ronald and everyone
Sorry for the late response due to my busy work here in school. Yeah I suggest we must first do the following:
1. Theme of the event
2. Overview
3. Aims
4. objectives
(Please anyone could help the format please share)
Once we have accomplish this project plan, it is easy for us to go to the next step. Our goal is to produce a project plan so that there will be a clear idea to present this project to the sports centre for approval.
I need any reaction from the group.
