Status:

The PROJECT ROOM is a space that will be used for general project updates. Updates from our local representative, Sa Kimsorn, will be posted to keep everyone as informed as possible with what is going on with the project.
If information does not fit nicely with one of the tasks noted above, this is the place to post it.

how do I read past postings? This is very confusing to me.
Maybe I have figure out this new format.
What I teach in my workshops applies to childrens gardens also. The funding for my going to Nigeria was arranged but did not come through at the last minute. You do not need to take a year to train teens in farming. Most have some experience already so they just need to learn organic, 0-till.

Hi everyone!
I have to apologize that I didn't get this message posted sooner, but I ran out of time last night. Over the past several weeks, Kimsorn and I have been communicating via email about the Moung Russey village. Things have needed an updated for quite awhile and I offered to help him do that so we can get things moving again and start seeing results happen.
Kimsorn and I were able to chat on Sunday night for quite awhile and I was able to get an update from him about where things stand. As you may have noticed, over the last several days, I've been working on updating tasks and getting updated on what's been accomplished so far. It's taking me some time to sort through what information is already here and I will need your help in referring back to things that you've maybe already shared as we try to sort out tasks and get the village reflecting current priorities. Kimsorn would really like for the tasks here to be developed in support of their 3-year strategic plan, so I am taking bits and pieces of information from that to try and devise tasks that will help us help the local community get where they want to be.
I know we have a wealth of experience in the volunteers here. You are very much the experts in this arena, so I ask you to be patient as the update to the village continues this week. I am very excited about getting this village moving forward and I know that Kimsorn is as well.
Kindest regards-
Jennifer
I know several people who use SKYPE for free telephoning. Has the people on nabuur tried or using it? I prefer email. Just an idea.
I use Skype, although only the chat feature because I don't have a microphone right now. It works great! It would be great to get you in a chat with Kimsorn. He uses Yahoo chat.

I prefer emails even with people here in my town. Catching people at home is not easy but emails are waiting. I check them as often as I can even when at school.

Kimsorn has been working over the past several months on a funding proposal for Kitchen Table Charities Trust. This was submitted a few weeks ago and unfortunately, Kimsorn was informed that due to the recent economic downturn, their funding has been limited because of a decline in the amount of donations that have come in to support their organization. Kimsorn was informed that at the present time funds are exhausted and that it may take several months before funding will become available once again.
Kitchen Table Charities Trust has been a big supporter of several Nabuur projects in the past, so this is unfortunate news, but also the plight of many charitable organizations in this difficult economic climate. At any rate, we wanted to let you know the results of this effort.
There is a need to continue to seek out funding opportunities to support the work of CYDC, so if anyone hears of grant opportunities, please do not hesitate to share them.
Kind regards-
Jennifer
