Help draft a business plan for a community-based fruit farming business

Status: Finished

We need a business plan to give direction to our efforts for a community-based fruit farming business. You can help creating the businessplan by editting the wiki.

Hello everyone!!!

Glad to hear everyone voicing their opinions and getting ready for step 2! Sorry about my silence for last couple of days....

Thank you Jovana for these first links, I'll try to open up a wiki for the links, and we can try to give ourselves a few more days to look at some more options and then start to see if we can fill a few applications!

Cheers

Hello everyone,

In order to structure our discussions a little bit, I suggest we move our discussions on the funding options to the "discussion on funding options" part of the Nabitende village. Thanks everyone, let's keep the energy going!

Cheers

Hi all.

I am back after awhile.

Derek and neighbours, thank you for the great work. Sure we should focus on step 2 of finding funds. I also suggest that we also think of the implementation part of the project.
This will involve questions like who will take the lead?
We need to start mobilising the community people, and further brief them on the project and the expectations. Of course we should not raise their expectations. We need this pretty first.

Thanks again,
Marsha Denis.

Dear friends,

Great to see everybody is back in action... I'm currently working on making a word file with our business plan, I'll put it in resources, and it would be great if you could review it, and maybe try to make a pdf document out of it, just a nice document that we can send as a first basis to potential donors.

I agree with Marsha, if we find the funds, this will take some time before we actually get the money, there are deadlines, reviews, etc that usually take a lot of time.

Marsha, what do you think about starting the project by first implementing Ken's vegetable growing plan?

And secondly we could try to organize a fundraiser and get enough funds for starting the project, like buying some tools and seeds.

Marsha, I think it would be great if you could contact Paddy and see if he can start to organize the community, maybe again using Ken's input to start some concrete work. I know Ken's projects have proven results in other villages, and this doesn't need many funds and can be implemented immediately. This way we will see some first results, the community will learn to work together, and slowly we can work in the background to find larger funds and hopefully get our bigger project soon of the ground.

Let's keep working together!

Cheers

Derek

PS: I might be away a few days, hopefully I'll find access to the internet to keep contributing.

Dear friends,

I have just added our proposal in the resource file, it includes everything that has been written so far, in a presentable word document. If one of you could chekc it out and improve the lay out that would be great.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Cheers

Hey Jovana, thanks for the links!

If possible, it would be great if you could move this discussion to the funding task of the website, just click on discussion on funding. I have opened a wiki, feel free to add your links in there... It is also nice to get contact info, info on grants, deadlines etc, and then we will have to start working on applying for so;e of them, which is why I`ve put our plan into a word format...

Jovana, feel free to start contacting donors and taking the lead on some of the proposals, we will all work together but it`s nice to spread the work a little... Let me know if you think you have the time to do so, otherwhise just keep sending in the links and I`ll try to do the follow up or recruit some more neighbours...

Enjoy your day everybody,

I would like to correct the location of Nabitende.
It is Nabitende village, Nabitende parish, Nabitende Sub County, Kigulu County, Iganga District and NOT (Luuka County).
