You will need to activate it by depositing at least 10,000/= to 15,000/= (5 or 7.5$). We need not at this time think about solar cookers and rainwater harvesting technologies! The first thing is to mobilise 10-15 women [as already mentioned]and see how we should facilitate them with vegetable seeds [egg plants, cabbages, carrots etc] for which they can grow, have some to eat at home and sell in nearby markets.At least if each woman could grow half an acre land of cabbages is meaningful. From such results, we are building the CBO's reputation of getting experience among other things. Some time ago, I had posted a simple budget [on vegetable seeds] to start with. At that time I had mentioned of starting with 50 households. [please check out postings in this section/assignment or somewhere within Nabitende to trace the communication in effect. We could use that by scaling it done. We donot need pesticides at this time. Paddy could start with a demonstration at their home within the village! You might find that we need as little as 300-500 dollars for this start! This would also involve training the women in best agricultural/crop growing practices, organise them in a group and provide basic training in group dynamics, savings, business management skills. The next pharse would involve further identifying which vegetable crops would these women like to grow in future including starting to identify possibilities of introducing fruit trees like papaya and mango for the start.
