Nakyerongosa village, Uganda welcomes volunteers from UK

Greetings from Nakyerongosa village, Uganda

A lot of work has in water and sanitation has been taking place in Nakyerongosa since 2008. Many people within Uganda have shown interest in the project and have been visiting Nakyerongosa village to see for themselves what is being done.

Towards the end of the year 2009, the village hosted volunteers from United Kingdom. They spent one week with us and assisted the community in construction of water jars, pit latrines for elderly and disabled, a hand dug well, tippy taps and dish racks for the households. Training in hygiene and sanitation was also carried out.

The volunteers engaged in competitions that included cultural dances, sporting activities and preparation of local foods. They were very happy to be in Uganda and enjoyed working with the community in Nakyerongosa.

We do welcome anyone who would like to volunteer in our village. As 2010 begins, plan to come to Nakyerongosa and you will not regret the experience.

We are very grateful for all the support to Nakyerongosa village. Nabuur has done a wonderful job of connecting us to the world. We do look forward to a Prosperous New Year 2010.
