Robbert Steenman and I (Martijn Savenije) are both Worldschool Students. This means that you will soon hear from us via the Worldschool organization (I was told that Pelle Aardema has contacted you, is that correct?). We will soon put a photo picture of ourselves on our Nabuur profile so that you have an idea to who you're talking :). What has been your progress so far, and what needs more attention? We had the idea of contacting a Travel Agency in holland and linking specific Tourist Activities in your village to the trips to Uganda, organised by that particular Agency. Like I said the project is not closed. It is on-line and though seemingly silent, the current mission is to make the ideas in Omiito village practical and a reality. A lot has been shared and there is need to make these ideas happen. This is very key and paramount! To ensure this; a) Membership/affiliation to in-line institutions: - We are in the verge to finalizing membership an International Organization (Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Services also affiliated to UNESCO). We also recognize volunteers as a category of tourists that have a big role to play in making the community tourism project a reality. We already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a local Tour and Travel company. This company should be able to complement our efforts where need be. After finalizing with CCIVS, from a wealth of alternatives, one local organization with a similar cause will be identified and a partnership created. I also wish to invite you to the Omiito village gallery and resource, you will notice community groups. These are self-sustained and operational; readily awaiting to receive visitors. b) World School Students:- We have a group of three female world school students who have just completed a work plan. The idea is to establish a small resort along Lake Semere , neighboring Omiito village in Kumi district. The purpose of the resort is to provide a resting place for tourists and opportunities for the community to exploit their skills and talents. We expect another group of World school students who will be doing more of development of Information, Education and Communication Materials. A staff (M/s Claudia Vijge) from the World school is yet to get back to me on who has been recruited to do this specific assignment; as the last thing we worked on together was development of contents for the assignment. Focusing on your idea to link up with a travel agency there. There is no problem with you pursuing the idea. In fact, it was the original idea of the three students to come up with a small resort.
