Funding sources

Status: In progress
Step:
6

In order to sustain the youth centre in the long term it is going to need some regular influxes of cash and man power. So the object of this task is to find an established organisation that would be willing to support the development of the youth of Oyoko.
Last year Oyoko was successful in establishing itself as an NGO.
The first step in this task is probably going to be creating a list of possible sources and then writing a proposal outlining the goals etc of the youth centre.

This task is going to require a lot of input from everyone to get a proposal together that is going to attract the eye of funders.

Hi All,

How do we push our village to the next level?

Over the past 6 months we have been able to wrie a proposal for this project (Youth Advisory Centre), communicate with potential donors.

We have also liaise with the local community regardig this project and set up a wiki for village to brainstorm and put together potential site where we can gwet information.

I will be going to my village next week to oversee progress of our first project.

Hi

We did work on this project for over 6 months before we got to the point where there was need for funding to ship the things we were looking for to set up the Youth Advisory Centre.

Well may be we have to focus on different thing now as to setting up this Youth Advisory Centre

Hi Ernest,

The idea (I think) as it has been proved on other nabuur communities is to start focusing in what can be done before we look into raising funds. That is the very last thing projects are trying to look into once every other resource has been looked into.

Let's continue the discussions to see what can we come up with.

Hi Raul,

You are right i went to see the Director for Green Standards. Well they promised to give us what we are looking for though, the cost he sent to me for the shipping was way beyond my expectation.

If we have that sort of money it will do more for the local people. Well may be i have to shelve that plan and focus on new things that will bring immediate impact to the people of my village.

I will be going there in 1st week of March and will use the opportunity to make assessment and see how best we can tailor my effort to help the needs of the youth in the village.

Just a dumb question.

I had a look at what greenstandards do and they seem to be an organisaiton that receives items that other people are going to dump and give them to others.

I am just wondering if the cost of shipping 4,600 Pounds is actually worth it given the price and condition of the items. I am sure they must be in good condition but just wondering if with that amount some better things could be done locally.

Hi Ernest,

Now that you are of the featured villages group. Could you give us an update of what ahs happened and the current situation. So we do not have to go through all postings.

That would be great,

Raul

Hi Neighbours,

I have been busy for the past 2 weeks due to other commitment. We are still looking for contacts to secure funding for the shipment of goods to Oyoko.
We will entreat all neighbours and friends of Oyoko Village to help us on this effort.

Hi All,

I visited Green Standards yesterday and met with the Director. It was very fruitful and we had very good meeting. They have agreed to help us secure most of the item we are going to need for our Project i.e.

Projectors
White Borad
Scanner
Printer
Photocopy Machine
20-25 Computers
Desks
Cabinets
Chairs
Telephone (Hand Set)
Fan and many more

I mean a whole set of what will help us set up this Youth Advisory Centre. I have submitted to them the following:

1. Application Letter
2. Project Document
3. Registration Certificate
4. Printed copies of pictures and other information on our site.

They are going to submit this to the Board of Trustees of Green Standards but i have been fully assured by the submission that i have made gives us 100% chance of getting these items. This is fantastic.

Should we get all these items we are going to need a container to send this item to Oyoko. What we have to do now is to source for funding which i have been told it will be estimated around £2000.00 The package is called "School in a Box" meaning we have everything that we are going to need for this centre.

This is to all our neighbours, as you were able to see us through our first project, i hope you are going to help us again this time to secure funding to send this item to Oyoko

We have targeted either April or June 2008 as the shipping date so we have to start our sourcing now.

Please help as much as you can. We now have our own Bank accounts so transfering of funds to Ghana will not be a problem.

Please ask any question you want if want more details of this

Regards

Ernest
