Edit and Write Content for the Website-WIKI

Hi everybody,

Here are some tips to improve the website

Try to write the text in a more attractive way. I’m not a native English speaker but there are still some mistakes in your text. You also need to look at the spaces between the words, sometimes there is no space between the words (itlookslikethis). It’s also important to think like a traveller for example:

Part from the website

There is a problem of road in Sankhuwasabha. The transportation is in Sakhuwasabah in Rainy season. The season starts from June and lasts for three months .During the season the road becomes muddy and transportation is obstructed. As a result the price of goods in Kandbari is very high. 77.62% of the people in Sankhuwasabah are framers. But the farming method is old. The framers have bee using the same kind of plough till this20Th century.

When I reed this when I am travelling I would think, how can I get there if the roads are blocked, maybe it’s better to go to another place because I’m not sure if  I can reach them.  I’m also thinking maybe it’s really expensive to go there, better go to another place because I can’t pay for the goods.

-  Try to advertise for your region. Make a description of at least three highlights.  Why do people need to visit you region, what do you think is interesting for them to visit? Put a picture on this part and give it more space.

 -  I think it’s important for travellers to see immediately that the website is containing information for travellers. Maybe you can arrange the website in such a way that you only see the bit about why they need to visit Sankhuwasabha. Then you can put the top story and news item a little bit further down the page. So that other visitors can scroll down to see the other information.

-  I think it would be better if the link for further reading directs you to page 2 (which will become a page about tourism)-         Delete the links at the left site, it’s enough to put your links at the top of the website

-  I’m not sure but I think the links on the right sight are sponsored links. What kind of arrangement did you make with the advertisers? Do you need to put these links on every page of your website or only on the homepage. If you didn’t make any arrangements on putting the links on all the pages I would put them only on the HOME page (page 1). Then the other pages would be a lot more readable.

Tips about getting more tourist to Sankhuwasabha and to improve the website

Tips:

  • - Maybe it's an idea to make leaflets about the region of Sankhuwasabha and try to get them into hotels/hostels/homestays through Nepal. A lot of travellers don't now about your district. To make them aware of all the nice things you have on offer, you need to let them now that you exist!
  • - Other way to attract a lot of people to your region is to try to get people to write positive about your district on their travel website or weblog.
  • - Maybe we can find a possibility to get you in a travel guide. A lot of backpackers decide where they are going to when they arrive in the country. They use there lonley planet/ rough guide or other travel guide to find a place to visit and/or to stay. So it's really important to try to get into a travel guide!!
  • - Maybe there are possibilities to arrange accommodation on local farms? People could help on the farm and learn about the local life and nature? There is also an organisation that help provide volunteers for developing/sustaining organic farming projects: www.wwoof.org
  • - I think the local population knows a lot about their environment and medicinal plants/herbs, maybe it's possible to train them as local guides and make 1-day nature trekkings with travellers?
  • - Maybe you can arrange with some local farmers/craftsman that there will be a possibility to do excursions?

Website:

There is already a lot of  good information on the website, here are some tips about improving the layout and information.

Lay-out

- Some of the text is not in English, we need to look at the text and translate it

- Try to keep the site more simplistic, there is to much information on one page now.  For me it's difficult to find the correct information

Advise: Use the white part of the site for articles and pictures and maybe advertisement. Use the top orange part to navigate through the website. And then when it's now problem for you, you can take away all the options on the sides of the website.
