INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY -FOR GRAPEVINE COMMUNITY SCHOOL.

We recently bought 0.375 Acres of land for the future development of our school. Our neighbors have leased land to us to use and pay them fro the harvest.
The land leased to us is about 4 Acres. We therefore have 4.375 Acres of land for Crop farming. We chose crops because the do not need very close supervision.
The area receives low rainfall but people have dug well due to shallow water table. Therefore we also feel that we dig our own well. The one nearest to us is about 1km away. The area is also an open ground which need to be fenced to protect the crops once they are planted.
The group member will provide labor when needed.
I on behalf of the members request our neighbors, well-wishers, friends, groups or individuals. To support us in this project.
This will support our feeding program and the surplus can be sold to meet other project expenses. Land preparation is next Month/September and planting is done in early to Mid October.
I welcome you all to give you support in terms of ideas, links to relevant Organization and any other relevant information that may help usachieve our goals.

There is lots of information around on Nabuur about sustainable agriculture. There is a huge resource at
www.cd3wd.com
Perhaps you could use the land to provide food for the school and parents, as well as rent for the land owner.
I am a member of Garden Organic, an organic gardening organistion in the Uk. I am also a keen vegetable gardener and grow lots of veg & herbs in our relatively damp and cold climate. Garden Organic have an overseas arm which helps with advice on organic growing
http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/international_programme/index.php
They also have some great "Gardening for Schools" projects, with lots of learning material based around veg growing for children. http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/organicgardening/schools.php
I hope this helps
Cheers
