The new toilets are now being used but have not yet been plastered. We are now three weeks into the new term-Term three.we have received 18 pupils since we opened. The new classrooms, desks, toilets among others have attracted new children.Despite the fact some of our old pupils have not reported due to lack of fees among other family problems.
WE are still expecting to receive more children come next year.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of talking directly with Josephat via chat and found out more information about the school. Some updates have already been posted to the project room, but I wanted to share some of the background information he shared with me to help everyone more fully understand the current situation at Grapevine Community School.
Motivation to Start Grapevine Community School
Hope you are doing well.
Yes indeed I need help in building.I am in the process of putting up 2 temporary classrooms.
What kind of help to you offer? Want to build using iron sheets and posts/poles.
This is because we are on rental premises.
I steel need your help now and in future.
They are 10.4Ft (317 cm)long and9.68Ft(295 cm) wide @.5 M high each.Each is expected to accommodate 20-24 pupils
WE do not have Topographical map.We are facing the sun to the east .A gentle slope facing the river- 100m down the slope.
We are facing a street on the lower side to the east.No building permit required. Yes I will use the local labour force.
There are 70 pupils who have now reported to school. Others are yet to travel from upcountry fro Christmas holiday. We only need nails timber poles and iron sheets all are locally available.
I am pleased to inform the Sewage neighbours that the Grapevine self Help group member are about to clear their balances for the 2 classrooms. If they pay everything by the end of this month, we shall be able to put up the temporary classrooms in April. This is yet another good news.
I want to thank the members for remaining steadfast and focused on their plans.
Indeed it is better late than never.
