Village facts

  • The pahari community of sikharpa village is located 20 kilometres south of Kathmandu city. Lagankhel (Lalitpur Sub -Metropolitan City) to Lele Chandanpur road. An altitude of 4500 ft. above sea level. It is in between Lele and Nallu River.

  • Origin of pahari cast is still unknown. They have their own pahari language which is nearly similarly to the newari language. They are followers of Buddha, but not rigid in religion. They worship Buddha, Hindu gods and goddess.

  • Pahari is the cast of the localites here, who have their own social norms, values, folkways and culture. The cast is economically poor, but rich in culture.

  • The pahari people are famous for making different household materials of Bamboo and sell to adjacent villages and adjoining cities, like Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. But now a days this traditional occupation of Pahari is disappearing.
