Find a women's cricket team willing to play cricket at the cricket tournament in Vadgam

Status: Finished

There will be a cricket tournament in Vadgam. As such, make a list of women cricket teams which we can contact and convince to play cricket in Vadgam as a charity fund-raising event.

Hi Estelle,

Thanks! Ok, I'll go invite more neighbours to help us contact these cricket players

Hello,

On the wiki, I have weblinks to different cricket teams. No personal emails were found. But maybe by contacting through the team site, you can ask for items from the players.

OK, I'll make up a list of players or find a website with their emails. I'll put in on the wiki. Shouldn't be any problem.

Hi Estelle,

Ok. I'll find neighbours who can help us contact the players. For the meantime, you think you can help us look for players to contact?

By the way, I'm in Malaysia right now so I don't have regular internet access. Will be back on the 26th.

Great,

Find someone who can contact the players. I don't think that they'll have any problems. Players usually have something to donate.

Hi Everyone,

Alright. Since the auction is feasible the question now is, how do we go about doing it? I think the first thing we need is a list of people to contact for donations. What do you think Estelle? Shall I go ahead and recruit neighbours to help research for ex-cricketers willing to donate stuffs for auction? Just give me the go signal and I'll proceed with it.

Hi Estelle,

This is a good idea! :) That's possible. Maybe we can do that.

If we can't find any teams to play, there are other ways to raise money. One good way is by holding an auction.
This could be done by simply asking the players of the teams if they would like to donate a personal item to be auctioned for the project. The items could be almost anything. A ball or racket with the player's autograph on it, an old t-shirt with their number, team colours and autograph, etc.
Once this is done, then a date, time and place for the auction must be arranged. After that, have the children spread the word to as many people they can. Or have them make small posters with the information about the auction. These could be attached to phone poles, walls and bulletin boards. Also, some children could ask the local businesses if they would mind placing a poster on their windows. That way customers who go there would see it. Don't forget schools, cafe's, resturaunts, religious centers, anywhere where people gather.

Once that is done, someone, preferably an adult, could contact the local newspaper and ask if they could send someone to cover the auction and print an article about it in the paper. If not, maybe they could donate a small advert announcing the event. That way people would read about it, too. Or maybe, one of the older children, or an adult who knows the language better, could play the role of reporter and write a small article about the auction saying what items were auctioned and how much money was raised. Then they could ask the newspaper to print it. If someone has a camera to take a few photos, all the better.

I hope this helps.
