Research child development programmes

Status: Finished
Step:
1

To ensure a good future for the children of Vadgam, we need to organise child development activities for children of various age groups in Vadgam - primary (under 13 years), secondary (13-16 years), higher secondary (14-17 years) and the youth in college (17-20 years). We also need to include children not attending school, or drop-outs.

Similar child development programmes have been run by various institutes and NGOs. Also, our neighbours can help with providing material and online training. We should also be able to identify people in Vadgam or nearby villages who can help with any child development activities.

Hi Nitin, Kofi,

Good to see the discussion going on here. I think this would really be a great opportunity for Vadgam.

Kofi - to clear things up for you: when Sijn and I visited Nitin, we stayed at his place. We had a wonderful time in Vadgam, though way too short :-)

Nitin and FairGround Foundation are already discussing a visit to Vadgam, which is a good start. These visitors will probably stay in a hostel in or around Vadgam? In the longer run Vadgam Social & Welfare Trust may have to look for a more permanent place where volunteers can stay.

I'll try to keep an eye on this discussion and add my 2 cents if needed.

Take care,

Pelle

Hello Nitin, Pelle, Ramchand,

Fantastic news, Pelle! How marvellous that you have been able to get FG to link up with Vadgam.

Well, you are on your way to future prosperity at Vadgam now, Nitin. I am so pleased for you and your colleagues. Your hard work is finally paying off. Excellent!

Perhaps you ought to think about the Moringa plantation now that Ramchand is on board - as that could quickly add yet another income stream for Vadgam.

If you set up a nursery to grow seedlings of the moringa, the voluntourists (and tour companies like FG too!) will buy the seedlings, to plant in your Moringa plantation, in order to neutralise some, if not all, of their carbon footprint!

And of course the bonus there is that they get the opportunity to work in nature - and Vadgam's Moringa plantation gets "good positive energy vibes" from them to help it grow even faster.

And there is also the very valuable gift of the labour they offer freely from their kind hearts.

You really now have a splendid situation, Nitin: especially as it is a do-able project, now that providence has brought Ramchand to you!

Well, Pelle, perhaps Vadgam village ought to start campaigning to get Siegfried to retire early - so you can take up the leadership of Nabuur.com: whiles he travels the world as the ambassador plenipotentiary (heavens, what a big and important word! :-D ) for www.nabuur.com!

Congratulations, Nitin (and to your colleagues) - and to you too, Pelle. :-D And may you all be blessed!

Warmest regards,

Kofi.

Hello Nitin,

The moringa is native to India - and it is a hardy plant that does well even in relatively poor soils! I hope that Ramchand will be able to guide you.

Do stay in touch with Eric the French gentleman. He is very kind - and very knowledgeable too: and will do everything he can to help you.

Talk to FG about using the farms of Vadgam's villagers to neutralise the holiday carbon footprint of their out-bound holiday clients, worldwide. That will provide financial stability for your moringa farms.

I think it is time we spoke to each other in real time, Nitin. I will send you an invitation to join gmail. If you download their free computer-to-computer telephone service, "googletalk", we can talk to each other online, for free.

The voice quality is superb. Pelle and I had a long conversation the other day - and we didn't have to worry about our phone bills, one bit!

So get cracking old chap - and download the "googletalk" so that we can get this project to move even faster, that way. Stay blessed, dear friend. And regards to your colleagues.

Warmest regards,

Kofi.

Bless you, Nitin - my Skype ID is: kofi.thompson The trouble I find with using Skype at my end, is that calls keep dropping, unfortunately.

But we can try that too all the same, if your web connection isn't so fast. Luckily, we are blessed with broadband countrywide here - although the monthly charges are scandalous: sheer daylight robbery, if you ask me!

It will be nice talking to you at last, Nitin. I do radio here from time to time - and find the human voice incredibly fascinating, indeed!

Hello Nitin,

Good to know that you and Ramchand are now working together actively!

Why don't you also invite Mary Smith and Estelle to help you find the required resources for the children's project?

They both have brilliant minds and are very knowledgeable about such things - and above all are generous-spirited individuals! So get them to help the Vadgam kids, too. Stay blessed, Nitin.

Best wishes,

Kofi.

PS You can find them both at the Kenyan village of Matopeni.

Hello Nitin,

It was nice taking to you earlier today - but it's such a pity the telephone line was so bad.

I had wanted to explain how you could get FG to collaborate with you, to make moringa planting in Vadgam, a carbon neutralising project for their clients.

I thinks its time you got the googletalk downloaded, don't you? Or alternatively, we could also talk via Skype: both cheaper (well, both free, as a matter of fact! :-D ) than that uber-expensive call today - and we couldn't even hear each other, half the time, too!

Well, the idea, is that FG gets its clients to buy seedlings from Vadgam's moringa farmers - who will then plant and care for them for those FG clients: for whom it will be a "Fair-trade" sort of way to neutralise their holiday carbon footprint.

If you are amenable to the idea, perhaps you can write to FG along these lines, Nitin:

"Dear FG,

It has been suggested to us, that we approach you to discuss the possibility of a partnership between FG and the Vadgam village community: in using the village's proposed community Moringa oleifera plantation, as a carbon offset project, in which your clients buy Moringa oleifera seedlings from the community, who then plant and take care of the seedlings on the clients behalf: as a means of neutralising their holiday carbon footprint.

Naturally, we will rely on you, were you to accept the proposal, to work out the number of seedlings needed by your client to offset the average two-week FG holiday carbon footprint - as we are not au fait with that sort of thing!

Such a partnership, would help us a great deal - and it would also be a "win-win-win" situation: for you (whose green credentials will be enhanced, further!); for your clients (who will get a painless and emotionally rewarding way of neutralising their holiday carbon footprint: whiles at the same time helping to alleviate poverty in Vadgam!); and for the Vadgam community: for whom it will provide an extra regular source of income!

We hope we have been able to plant the seed of a viable green business idea in your minds - and look forward to a positive response from you, soon. And our thanks to you - in advance!

Best wishes,

Nitin."
