Following the youth grant competition that has been running in Uganda since July, 2010, Wakitaka was ranked 5th out of the nine youth led organizations in Uganda that have won the grants for their proposed project. Our project as communicated to you earlier on is to manufacture briquettes from wastes as an alternative to charcoal and firewood.
The Training was attended by 20 members, of which general members were part but a must to project heads. (Chicken, Goats, Tailoring, Agriculture and piggery.
The funds resulting from the joint fund-raising event on betterplace.org for the three villages (i.e. Wakitaka, Jinja Central, and Mawoito)have finally reached.
Wakitaka Youth Development Group (WYDG) has signed an agreement with Iskratel. d.o.o. in Slovenia in which the Company will donate worth 3000Euros to help WYDG expand its projects and also start new projects to benefit the youth and the community.
