New story about the briquette making project

Following the youth grant competition that has been running in Uganda since July, 2010, Wakitaka was ranked 5th out of the nine youth led organizations in Uganda that have won the grants for their proposed project. Our project as communicated to you earlier on is to manufacture briquettes from wastes as an alternative to charcoal and firewood.

The Youth of Wakitaka Development group participated in a youth entrepreneurship challenge and are now waiting for the final decision.

Wakitaka Youth Group is growing steadily and making progress - we need your help with communications.

The Training was attended by 20 members, of which general members were part but a must to project heads. (Chicken, Goats, Tailoring, Agriculture and piggery.

Following receipt of a donation from Iskratel d.o.o., Wakitaka Youth Development Group was able to purchase the 8 goats.

Wakitaka Youth Group expands its activities.

The funds resulting from the joint fund-raising event on betterplace.org for the three villages (i.e. Wakitaka, Jinja Central, and Mawoito)have finally reached.

Wakitaka Youth Development Group (WYDG) has signed an agreement with Iskratel. d.o.o. in Slovenia in which the Company will donate worth 3000Euros to help WYDG expand its projects and also start new projects to benefit the youth and the community.

Thanks to a shipment of recycled eyeglasses, the future for 300 elders in Wakitaka village now looks a little clearer.
