That is such fabulous news Emmanuel - 12 goats now - they have really progressed quickly. I think the boys and girls are feeding them very well for them to all be giving birth to twins. I'd also find out who the father was so you can 'use' him again!
Hi Emmanuel,
Great news about the twins! What will happen to them? Will they be kept be the same person or will they be handed out to other orphans?
Jen
This is proof of why I believe goats are the first choice of all farm animals for villagers. They do not compete with humans for food but eat forages with a little grain. Their meat and milk is delicious. Single, twins or triplets is chance; not breeding.
The young ones will be left to grow before giving them out to other youths. I actually agree with Ken, goats are so promising and easy to take care of even amidst dry conditions.
Make sure they understand that straw, hulls, etc should not be fed to the goats. They have no food value. If they do not feed them well, they will not produce well. Since it is dry, use bucket drip irrigation to produce forages.
