Hi Neighbors,
The Youth are interested in Poultry keeping and Cross bred goat farming. We therefore invite Neighbors with useful resources to help the Village develop their ideas into a feasible business plan that will be implemented in the area.
Best Regards,
Emmanuel Menya
Emmanuel-
Have you and the youth completed a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) for both the poultry and goal rearing projects? This would be a great way for the people involved to brainstorm about the feasibility of both of these projects.
Maybe you could meet together and work on this and then post your results here? If you already have something like this, it would be helpful for us to review it I think.
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for your advise!! For the SWOT analysis, find the attached file in MS word format. We are also trying to draft a business plan as a team. We will require neighbors to assist in making additions and subtractions in our write up. Otherwise for now I wish you all the best, and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Emmanuel-
You've done a great job! I took a quick look through tonight, but I will have some more time to spend reading this over in a few days, so I am sure I will have additional questions/thoughts then. Keep up the great work!
Best wishes-

Hi Emmanuel and neighbours,
I did some research on the internet. And found some usefull links.
The first one is about goat farms. There are some tips on the website and maybe there is a possibility to join the give a goat project? Or approach a funding organisation? The Mukwano project is a Nabuur project so maybe we can get their help to develop the goat breeding business? http://www.belastingvrij.org/projecten/nabuur/Kakabada.htm
Then I found a article (scientific research)about Village chicken production systems in rural Africa. Maybe you can use it to improve the business. You can find the link on: http://www.fao.org/docrep/003/w8989e/w8989E00.htm
Warm regards, Lotte
Dear Lotte
On behalf of the Neighbors of Wakitaka, I want to officially welcome you to the Village.
Thanks for the useful resource!!It is actually a very good suggestion. I will try to exhaust it.
Best Regards,
Emmanuel Menya
Hi Neighbors,
I guess your weekend was marvelous!! Well greetings from Wakitaka. Attached is a file in MS Word for the proposed business plan that we came up with. We request for your additions and subtractions.

Hi Emmanual,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I did read the business plan. And it already looks very good! I did put some notes and changes in the text. I did write in bleu, so that you can find what I did write. Hope it will be usefull for you.

Warm regards, Lotte
Hi Lotte,
Thanks so much for sparing some time to go through the business plan!! I have seen your comments and surely they deserve attention. I will do the necessary adjustments and later on post the document on the site.
Best Regards,
Emmanuel Menya
Hi Neighbors,
Thanks for your efforts you are putting in to Wakitaka!! Well the updated version of the business plan is attached. However, more adjustments are expected to go on as the Neighbors have commented under step1 that broilers are capital intensive and therefore we will either opt for goat rearing and native chickens. The idea is still under discussion and therefore you can check it under step1 for further details.
Otherwise this is our tentative business plan. Do not hesitate to make additions and subtractions about the business plan as the discussions go on under step1.
Best Regards,
Emmanuel Menya

Hi!
Don't think I can get actively involved, but a while ago I came across a guide on how to do a market assessment for the best training to provide at a vocational training centre. It is produced by the Women's Refugee Commission based on their research in northern Uganda.
I know its aimed at VCTs rather than individuals, but the information about assessing the market may be relevant to you too.
Its at
