This is full of problems. I want to encourage you to market to the tourist trade in your country, first. That has problems but less so. Please do not do what one group did and that is airfreighted [US$1200] a lot to a person in the USA in May 2010 and still have not been paid one cent. I have tried to help collect but failed thus far. Please send samples and prices to anyone wanting to buy from you. Ship COD. You ship and on arrival the buyer pays the airline for the products and freight and sends the payment to you.

In January, Wakitaka received toys and dolls from Tanja of Slovenia for the children in the village. We distributed to the kids with smiling faces. Thanks Tanja for the children's gifts. Photos of this event are on your way.
Emmanuel
Hi All,
Attached are some photos of the toys and dolls from Tanja.

Hi All;
WYDG nominated one youth to take part in the 10days training organized by Youth Entrepreneurship Facility in regard to our new project of briquette making. The youth will be a Trainer of Trainees after completion of the training. The training began on 28th February and will end on Thursday 10th March, 2011.
Kind Regards,
Emmanuel
Hi all,
Our new project is expected to start before this month ends. I am also glad to inform you that the group has also managed to write and submit a proposal to UN Habitat Youth fund. The project has been dubbed as "Scaling up tailoring, fashion and design project." They will give us an update in August, 2011 on whether we have succeeded.
Regards,
Emmanuel
Hi Neighbors,
The project of briquettes has already kicked off. We began with an awareness campaign in the village on 29th May, 2011 followed by a Generate Your Business (GYB) training from 10-12th June in which 20 youth got knowledge and skills in a 3days training. The Training of Trainers (TOTs) of briquette making will be trained starting 17th June to 20th June. The TOTs will then be charged to train other youth in Wakitaka and other interested youth groups. The youth will also have a study visit to successful entrepreneurs in Kampala. The briquette machine has also been purchased.
Photos will come your way asap. More updates will come asap.
NB: We also ask villages on Nabuur who are interested in learning how to make briquettes to contact us.
Emmanuel
HI Menya - I confess I haven't really followed the briquette project - I believe you applied for a grant - and did you receive it? Will it pay for a briquette 'press'? which I assume is how you are making the briquettes? from mud? with a little straw? And how much do they sell for? I am asking for a project in Kenya and would like a little more info. Thanks! and good luck!

Hi
We received the grant. Briquettes will be made from coffee husks, straw, saw dust, charcoal dust etc. 3 briquettes cost about 200Ugx. Will give you more updates. Got to run
Emma

Hi Neighbors,
The 3 days TOTs training which began on Thursday 16th June will end on 18th June. The training is conducted by Uganda Joint Women's Association found in Mbale; one of the certified trainers of briquette making in Uganda. The youth are being equipped with both theory, sales, marketing and practical skills. The youth have already taken part in briquette making; it is such an interesting process. The press machine has also already been purchased and in operation.
I will keep you posted with the photos soon.
Kind Regards,
Emmanuel
