Help make illustrated goat keeping manuals for Walungu

I think milking training will be a good start too and the focus could be on good practices during milking and possible alternatives for storage.

Hi all,

Please find the goat shed plans attached. It has been spread over 3 pages so that all the detail could be displayed clearly.

I have decided to keep the platform at a height of 500mm afterall, since the shed itself is really quite small. It will not require access to clean underneath, but rather simple raking as it's only 2m wide.

If there are any concerns please let me know. I'm happy to make changes, but I think this covers the essentials.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott, thanks again for the plan.

I heard from Guillaume, he consulted an engineer and says that the plan is good and that he's going to join the community and start building soon :)))

Hi everyone,

I'm back from my vacation. Hope you all are doing fine.

Guillaume informed me that the construction of the shed had started but it was stopped for a while because of the tensions in North Kivu and the fear of its spreading to South Kivu. Since the situation has been stabilized now, they will continue building in 2 weeks or so.

Scott, how the next section of the manuals is progressing? Please let us know if you need any help.

I hope to be able to organize a chat soon, so that we can start working on our plan.

Take care,
Sonja

Hello everybody,
Greetings from a rainy Holland, where autumn has just begun. Also the creditcrisis and the rising prices of food and fuel are giving me an uneasy feeling about the future. How about you all ? How does this crisis affect your (personal) life and your country?
Guillaume: what is happening exactly in Kivu ? Are rebels from Rwanda causing problems again?
Tanja: I have not seen you on-line for a long time and read that you also had to stop as the facilitator of the village in India? I suppose that you are very busy with other things.
Be well,
Nico

Hi guys,

I had a great time, thanks Raúl :o) I think I didn't tell everyone - I got married two weeks ago and I was on a honeymoon. I hope you will forgive me for not being very active lately - there was a lot of work to be done for the wedding.

According to Guillaume, the situation is calm, and they plan to continue building very soon. Keep fingers crossed.

Nico, Tanja informed me that she is going to be on a trip until mid October, so she's offline. And she got a new project to work on which takes a lot of her time, so unfortunately she had to give up being the facilitator :( but she plans to continue working as a neighbour.

Guys, do you find the new website still confusing? Can I help in any way?
Let me know.

Have a nice day everyone.
Sonja

Hi Sonja,

Congratulations on your wedding. I hope you had a magical honeymoon!

I must apologise too, as I haven't been very active myself lately, with a full plate in other areas of my life in recent times, it's been hard to make enough time for anything. I'm off facebook too, which I'm sure you've noticed, but email is just fine for me.

So...building is recommencing soon. That's good to hear. I will get the next manual to you all for review as soon as I can.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott and Nico, thanks a lot for the congrats.

I have been trying to get on a chat with Guillaume these days to see what's going on, hopefully we'll talk this weekend. He informed me that the crop in July was rather bad and that many families have only one meal a day :( Also, he told me that the seed from Ken has been planted.

Looking forward to the next section of manuals :)

Take care
Sonja

Hi Nico,

I am catching up with all the new posts from the last three weeks, wow, lots of things are going on on Nabuur. Nice to see some excitement after all the troubles with the new website. I have been traveling a lot lately to places without much Internet access like rural Bhutan and India- although I did not get a chance to visit Tamil Nadu where Koliyonkulam is located. Luckily I was away for the worst weekend of the financial crisis, without access to TV, newspapers or Internet so I was blissfully unaware that the world was falling apart. I do not dare to check on my investments-there is really not much I can do at this point...but hope for the best :))Looking forward to our next discussions!

Sonja,

Hi Tanja,
Glad to see you back on-line. By the way, where are you on the photograph ? What do we see? From a distance they look like red wooden shoes (from Holland ?) or lampoons ?
