Yoshinkhel is derived from two words
Yoshin + Khel

Yoshin means Pole and Khel means ground

Yoshinkhel is one of the beautiful and ancient place of Bhaktapur which has its own historical importance. The enchanting view of mighty Himalayas , Nagarkot hill , Suryabinayak hill can be viewed clearly from this place.

There is a temple of Bhadrakali, also Known as Kwachhe at the right side of Hanumante river. The temple of Bhadrakali symbolis the goddess of power,'Kali'.

Yoshikhel have lot of historical importance.
In every Nepali New Year day ,Baisakh 1st ( April 14), the important festival called Bisket Jatra celebrate in Yoshinkhel. A seventy- foot wooden ceremonial pole (Yoshin)known as linga symbolised as a snake is erected at Yashinkhel. There is a large open space (khel) here with a mound that has a hole where the pole is placed in festival. About 1,00,000 people from different part of Nepal including foreigner take part in festival.

Hence, Yoshikhel is still standing high preserving all its natural beauty and historical values.
