Helping two Villages in Nepal- Yoshinkhel & Khandbari

A win-win for the women of Yoshinkhel and the orphans at Khandbari!

Last year, through the efforts of some Nabuur neighbours, the women of Yoshinkhel were asked to knit a number of woolen garments for the children of Gamuli in a remote part of Nepal. This year we're going to offer a similar opportunity for the women in Yoshinkhel to earn a bit of money and the orphans at Khandbari to receive some much needed warm clothes for the upcoming winter. My partner Phillip (and Nabuur neighbour by proxy!) will travel to Nepal in October where he will meet Sabina and pick up the garments which we and Phillip's parents Joy & John have commissioned to be knitted. Sabina and I have selected a sweater, slippers and a woolen cap for each child in different colours so they don't mix them up! We have also arranged a thank you gift to the Cook Mother who tirelessly looks after the children, as well as something for the cook mothers' child too. Phillip will spend a couple of days with Tejanath at Khandbari and visit the orphanage where he will present the gift to the children. We hope they like them!! Stay tuned for the photo's.

Sabina these are beautiful!! It is obvious too that as the women make more of these items that their skills are becoming stronger. They did a great job! Please extend my thanks to them for what they have done to help support the children at the orphanage.

Dear Neighbours,
my husband Phllip visited the beautiful children at Khandbari orphanage 2 days ago and was able to give them the lovely hand knitted garments that the women of Yoshinkhel Craft knitted. You can see in the photo that the kids look great in their new attire.
Phillip said they were very very happy to receive them. He spent some time with the kids, played with them and also ate Dhaal Bhat (lentil rice) with them.
So- this task is now complete!
Thanks Sabina for helping coordinate all this!
