Sabina needs help to develop the evaluation survey and/or interview questions and tools for the various projects as described in the business plan.

Hello Everyone,

While reviewing the project plans and business plan, we developed an evaluation strategy. This task will involve coming up with the appropriate questions/tool/surveys etc for the ongoing evaluation of the projects. Please feel free to add you input1

Looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing the project take shape and all those questions answered in a positive way :) Thanks for your work, Barb

Thanks Angelika,

I still have a bit more work to do. I should be done in the next few days.

Hello Everyone

I have added the rest of the questions. I still think there should be a pre and post test for knowledge and skills, but I would need input on the specifics of what knowledge and skills are being developed as a result of the project.

I hope these are useful for you and your project Sabina. These relate specifically to the tutoring project. Would you like specific questions for the other projects you have?

Let me know what you think!

Best wishes,
Barb

Hi Again,

I just wanted to clarify what I mean by pre and post test. Often to see if there has been a change in knowledge and skills, participants are asked to complete a survey/questionnnaire and/or answer some questions about their knowledge and skills. This is done before they take part in the project. Once they complete the project (or at a specific point in time) they are again asked to complete the same set of questions. The answers from the two are compared to see if there are any changes or differences. Any improvements can usually be attributed to participation in the project.

As an example:

If a project was trying to increase knowledge on hygiene practices they would ask a series of questions such as:

- Do you wash your hands before every meal?
- What is the best way to prevent the spread of germs?
- Are you familiar with the following (provide a list of hygiene activities)?

and so on.

The questions would be asked before and after participation. There are 'correct' answers and you want to see if they are getting more correct after participating. This can also be used for awareness about the project itself by asking 'are you familiar with this or that' or 'what do you think project does..' etc. The differences in responses are examined.

I hope this clarifies some points.

Hi Barb and Sabina,
I totally agree with Barbs' suggestion that a pre- and post evauation test is essential if you are to measure the success of the education program. This type of measurement is invaluable to promoting the program, expanding it and also seeking further funding for it. It also reinforces to the community that this is not an ad hoc or one-off program but one that seeks sustainability and growth. I manage health-related improvement projects and without the pre- and post test we really can't measure the success of our change initiatives. The evaulation tests are very important.
Barb I think you've done an excellent job on the evaluation questions.
Regards
Carolyn
