Find volunteers to help in business development, education, training and/or construction

In Yoshinkhel we have plenty of opportunities for individuals who would like to help the community not only over the computer, but also in the village itself as volunteers. How could we attract them? Or are you yourself interested?
Specifically we are looking for people to help with
1. developing the knitting program into a professional business
2. training the women in advanced knitting (or other professional skills)
3. designing/constructing the building
4. training the tutors of the school children
5. teaching the children in the community school as well as in our innovative education program
Volunteers should be able to support themselves. SACDS can arrange a guest house near Yoshinkhel or volunteers can stay with families in the village. Sabina can also arrange for a local tourist guide to show you around, translate and even teach you Nepali.
One possibility to find volunteers is of course via the web: there are several websites which volunteers are consulting if they want to help an underprivileged community. Nabuur villages often look for volunteers, so you will certainly find some inspiration :-) One of our neighbours, Nicole, already wrote a short job description which you could adapt (to be found under resources)! But there's plenty of other means of finding volunteers...maybe in the pedagogical institute of a university near you? Through alumni networks? There is no limit to your ideas :-)

hello sir/madam,
all hope are fine there. i will work org plz give me guideline ngo org work
Hallo! A very warm welcome to our new neighbours :)
There are many ways in which you can help! Under this task we are looking for volunteers who could help to teach the tutors or also take over other teaching functions.
On the other hand, an important priority for 2007 that Yoshinkhel has set itself is to complete the building of the Centre: we are now looking for neighbours who would like to make a fundraising event in their community to raise funds for the supplies!
We are greatful for your time and ideas,
Angelika

Hi Sabina and Angelika,
I hope this will be a good option for you!
An English travel company, "i-to-i.com" promotes a variety of volunteer tours worldwide.
The founder of the company is a wonderful person who brought a business chance in Uganda. And the story was broadcasted by BBC. So I'm sure it is a very famous site among people who like volunteering.
If you wish to invite volunteers for long term, it would be a good channel for appealing to people, especially Europeans.
Looking at this site, there are only three Nepal tours. I think your project fits here well.
You can also invite volunteers for teaching English or only for caring for children as well.
I promoted your project on my site, but unfortunately it seems to be difficult for us to get there without guides because of language barrier even if we are attracted.
I think it is a good step to cooperate with travel companies for both of us. They can combine optional tours to other beautiful or historical places around your village.
The company's site is here.
Please check it and think about it! :-D

Great idea! We'll check it out :) Thanks!
This advertisement was drafted by Nicole for volunteers in the education field. You could use it as basis to write your own advertisements.
Additionally to the note, I would like to add General Nepalese Language Training to
the volunteers and tour to the historical places of Bhaktapur.
Sabina
I would like to volunteer in the area of content design and development, capacity building and training to these womens, developing training materials etc. Kindly if you can make me more focused in line with you need then I am sure I would be able to deliver a lot.
THanks
Dear Madhuban,
In general we are looking into skills training that can generate income for the women...but we have decided to focus for now on the knitting and to make a professional business out of it.
We have also talked about alphabetisation for the women and making a CD Rom with a curriculum for the training of the mentors/tutors for the school children...our neighbour Simone was very involved with this. We have a special task on this as well.
We are also very much open to your ideas! What is your special area of expertise? What do you think would help concretely?
Best, Angelika

Hello people,
I have made a training with which you can calculate the costpice of a product. It is for people who know how to read, write and calculate and can be given in very simple surroundings: the sums are made in such a way that they can be easily made without calculators around.
The material is in Kenyian Shillings, but can be rewritten to the local currency. It covers the basics of the basics and has not been tested in the field yet. I hope one day to make more advanced courses on the subject and/or change the course to the feedback I will get from the field.
In the mean time: maybe I can help out with the catalogue, as your front page (overview) tells me you are in need of someone to finish the works and I know how to use the computer programs to make them with. Please let me know if I can do anything for your project.
Kind Regards,
Lieuwe
Dear Lieuwe,
Welcome in Yoshinkhel!! It would be great if you could help us with the catalogue - you find the respective task with a link to the current status of the catalogue under step 6 in the project room :) if you have any questions don't hesitate.
It would also be great if you could copy your message and training to the training task under step 7 and take part in the discussions there!
Welcome again and happy Easter,
Angelika
