Help design a calendar and sell it for fundraising

We would like to make a calendar with pictures from Yoshinkhel and use it for fundraising to buy wool :)
Who's in? We have started on design and texting: ideas are more than welcome! And then we'd also need YOU to help us with selling the calendars in your neighbourhood for fundraising!!!

Hi Carolyn,
Fully agree with your comments! Regarding the "red line" I was thinking a sentence/half sentence (1-2 lines) for each photo making up a "story" guiding through the calendar.
Best, Angelika
Hi all! Here I post the draft for an A3 with two months and space for notes. I also included a sample text for the "red line".
I'll look forward for your comments :)
Warm regards,
Ursula
Hi Ursula, Hi Angelika,I have to admit my personal preference is for the A3 (1 month per page) with photo on top.
I am concerned about the A3 size because of the mailing costs. Whilst some of us will be able to sell them directly to friends/colleagues etc, we can also advertise their sale and will need to include postage costs on top of that. Posting A3 size is much more expensive than A4 sie. That's my main reasons for wanting the A3 halved in the middle option.I know Virgina ELlsworth from nauur sold calanders last year- I will check with her about anything esle we need to consider.
Ursula- will you also be doing a Front cover/ Back cover? Back cover could be a good option for writing a short story about Yoshinhkel.
The calandar I am looking at right now has 7 A3 pages in total (27.5cm wide x 42cm lgth) stapled int he middle, - and they have printed stuff on each side (double-sided.
Carolyn
Hey there,
I'm also really glad to see you back, Ursula, and thanks so much also to Carolyn - so glad to see this task back online again :) the design really looks wonderful!
Kind regards, Angelika
Hi Ursula,
Sabina and I have re-written the back page. I have attached the document here. It may be too long...let us know what you can do with the design. e can reduce the text if we have to.
Thank you!
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
Tks for the doc. At first look I think that all the text could fit well, but let me try it on the design to confirm. I'll try to upload it today :)
Regards,
Ursula
Here I send the back page with the text provided by Carolyn & Sabina. Please check it and tell me if it is ok. Tks!
Regards,
Ursula
Hi Ursula, i think the back page looks good! I want to change the last sentence under the first paragraph as I feel that it is a bit 'down". I know it's the reality but i think a bit more of a positive sentence will suit this calendar better. I'll have a think about it and get back to you.
Sabina and I will work on the text of the photo's as soon as you finalise which ones you are going to use.
Carolyn
Hi Ladies, what about just to say thank you for this wonderful peice of work! I just can't imagine the kind of reception i should prepare when you visit on us with this kind of work as a present for our village.
With high regards,

Hi Ursula, i changed the first paragraph again - for the back page. Here is the newest version:
About Yoshinkhel, Nepal
Yoshinkhel is situated in the medieval city of Bhaktapur, Nepal, near the bank of the Hanumante River. It is about 15 km from Kathmandu City. The village is one of the most beautiful and ancient places of Bhaktapur and has its own historical importance. The enchanting views of the mighty Himalayas, Nagarkot Hill, Suryabinayak Hill can be viewed clearly from this magical place. Yoshinkhel has a rich cultural background and history, but is very underdeveloped. A lack of education, income, government services and facilities and job opportunities the community members face a difficult future. In order to survive, almost every member of the family needs to work to provide enough money just to manage their daily needs. The community of Yoshinkhel is committed to improving their future.
Hi Carolyn,
I'm sending the back page with the new paragraph. Please check it and tell me if it's ok. Tks!
Ursula
Hello Ursula- the back page text is all OK. Thank you.
Just one suggestion for a small change…I was wondering if you could reduce the size of the "Thank you" bit to Nabuur neighbours as it is now in very large font and I think it detracts from the yoshkinkhel craft website site and information.
It is preferrable that people first visit the Yoshinkhel Craft website ….
Hope that makes sense!
Hi Carolyn,
I've made the change in the font size. Please check it in the attached file. Tks!
Regards,
Ursula
Almost there- can you please reduce the size of the URL ( web address for the Nabuur) link. Should be similar size to font so that it doens't appear to be more importnant then the Yoshinkhel Craft website.
Thank you!
Hi Carolyn,
Ok. I changed the font size of both links in order to give them the same visual weight. Please check the attached file. By the way, is the Yoshinkhel Craft web address ok? I just tried to access it from my internet browser, but had no result.
Kind regards,
Ursula
