With the help of a volunteer, a beautiful catalogue was created with the women and children of Yoshinkhel starring as models for the colorful woolen products. The catalogue is also reflected on the website of Yoshinkhel Crafts: www.yoshinkhelcraft.com.np

Hello Angelika and Yoshinkhel neighbours,

I would like to help design the catalog, and I am really excited about the efforts to achieve successful projects for the Yoshinkhel community. Do you have a deadline for the completed catalog? What is the preferred format for the catalog? Do you require both digital and printed versions?

Edit: To clarify, what digital format do you prefer for printing: jpeg, PDF, etc?

That's great! I think regarding the deadlines I should say: as fast as possible ;) Sabina had talked to Third World Craft and they would really like to have a catalogue and price list as the products are already on their list from July...

I think regarding format: I should think PDF would be best because it is normally smaller than JPGs. Digital should be fine for now, although I'm sure Sabina could do with some printed versions too to leave with interested buyers. The problem might be the sending as it seems it's not so easy to send packages to Yoshinkhel (see our transportation task) :(

I look forward to starting the catalog. But first, I would like to consult with you, Sabina and other neighbors to get an idea of what the ideal finished catalog would be because I want to design something that meets the needs of the project in every way. =)

So just a few questions, to get started:

- Should the design be similar to Freddie's in terms of its white background and clean design or completely different?

- Should the design have artistic design elements or would something more standard and conservative be better?

- Are there any preferred colors, symbols, additional photos, visual elements, etc., that could be incorporated into the catalog design to represent Yoshinkhel?

- Will there be a text introduction with background info on Yoshinkhel and the purpose of the knitting project, or will the catalog only contain knitwear.

- Will the price list be included in the catalog or will it be separate?

Any one which is more suitable.I have no idea. However, it should look proffessional too.

We do not have preferred colors or symbols but we have additional photos that could be included
If we could add individual short story of knitter that is better.

This is very important to include short background info,purpose of project.

if we can add price in every product that is good but i don't think it is possible.

I've created a draft of the cover for the wollen products catalog, and uploaded it for you to see. Do you think this is an appropriate design to represent the women's work? As always, I'm open to any suggestions. I'm looking forward to working on the intro page and starting product pages this weekend.

Please let me know which is easy way to post the photos of products. Shall i download in photo gallery or send by email.

When Freddie visited at Yoshinkhel, he helped me to take pictures of products by his quality digital camera. I have lots of pictures but have to edit.

If I post the pictures original , I hope somebody would like to help by editing because I do not much more idea in photoshop.

Do you think there is any way to improve the page, anything that you prefer, anything important that I have missed?

Does the text best address potential sellers that you plan to contact or is there anything I'm missing that could grab their attention?

Also, I'm a bit confused about contact information. I've left a space for it at the bottom of the intro page. Freddie's catalog includes full contact info for SACDS as well as Sabina's telephone number and email. Should we use one contact or include both SACDS and Sabina's?

About the photos in the gallery, it would be best for the catalog if they were not so compressed in pixel size or file size. This is because larger images will look sharper and generally better when resized into a design. They will probably be ok to work with when I get to the product pages, but if not, I will let you know and maybe consider uploading them to flickr.com or photobucket.com where they can be less compressed.

I will have to find a good balance between visual quality and file size so the catalog looks professional but is also easy for everyone to view.
