Help find successful examples of children care & adult training centres
Status:

We need to find successful examples of similar child care centres in Asia, mainly in Nepal that have been done in and outside of NABUUR that the Yoshinkel community can use as a model. To get us started, what exactly is needed? What are our strengths and weaknesses?
Project: Previous discussions

Dear NABUUR Volunteers.
Today it's International Volunteer Day.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your dedication and invaluable support towards finding solutions.
The time and energy put forth into your volunteering work really make life changing differences for other people.
As NABUUR grows we are honored to work with passionate volunteers such as yourself, as you are the ones who make it happen.
NABUUR and all those involved celebrate you today, and we look forward to a long and continued collaboration.
It couldn't be done without you.
Warm regards,

Dear Simon,
I appreciate your comments made in SACDS introduction .
We are very newly established organization and we are trying our best to make a link with other ngo and ingos. Currently we have good relationship with Volunteer Society Nepal who have also supported in our knitting program and also they are sending volunteers who teach english language to kids and women in Yoshinkhel. They will also support in our future programs.
We have also finished to collect data of Yoshinkhel but little difficult to make a final report.
However , here are some points i finalized;
Target Group: Lowercaste people in Yoshinkhel
Total Household : 65
No of children: 0-4 age: male - 12 and female- 18,
Total number of children under 5 are 30
What we are planning is that if we set up child day care centre we will keep these 30 children and after that we will manage to send them good private schools near by and we will provide them scholarship upto higher school.
Our goal is to provide scholarship by March 2007 from Yoshinkhel is 10 children above 5 years who are currently in School for their further education. Actually shool drop out rate among boys and girls in Yoshinkhel is very high because of economic problem, discrimination between higher caste and lower caste and other factors. So we will also plan a program that help to decrease school drop out rate.
I will post remaining data by next week.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Thanks n best regards
Sabina
Dear Neighbour all,
Could you please find suitable slogan like below to keep in letter head:
"Give me an opportunity , I can do it"
"Let's make difference together, we prove it"
"Bring smile together"
and we will keep the best one in our letterhead.
Hoping to hear from you soon.

Sabina

Dear Neighbours,
I thank you all for great contributions so far and I am sure you all are doing great. Find enclosed a copy of SACDS introduction with slight modifications as suggested by Simon. Kindly let us know if it can be improved further.
Sabina and Andrew are in the process of arranging some English teaching volunteers for the kids at Yoshinkel. It'll be wonderful if we can motivate the kids by story telling as suggested by Susanna.
I'll post the BP with corrections as pointed by Simon. If anyone else has any other suggestion kindly let me know.
Best Regards,
Deepshi
Hi, Sabina,
You have stated that "however I checked one time this site and get chance to read some doc and all documents are in PDF, but could not save".
Were you unable to save because the document was in pdf?
Have you tried choosing 'file' and click 'save a copy' or 'save text'?
If you save as a text you will be able to copy or cut and paste relevant parts in to your own document.
Hope this helps you.
Best regards
Vinod
Sabina

Dear Junjun ,
The link that you provide shows below when I clik
http://www.onlinecbc.com/links.htm
"There seems to be a problem with the MySQL server, sorry for the inconvenience.
We should be back shortly."
However I checked one time this site and get chance to read some doc and all documents are in PDF , but could not save .
Whatever I read, that was useful infomation and it helped me to decide to add school system in Nepal somewhere in project plan of child care.
Let me know what do u think.

Sabina
Dear Neighbours all,
How are you all? Hope you all are doing great.
Please find attached SACDS introduction where you will find History and backgroud, vision, mission, strategy and objectives of Social Action for Community Development Society.

Hi, Sabina, Deepshi and Neighbours,
Glad to see that templates for business plan and project proposal are found useful.
They are obviously for different purposes and care should be taken not to mix the two.
Please go to http://www.onlinecbc.com/links.html and click "Daycare providers' beginner page" to obtain further support to set up the day care services.
The goal of this site is seen to be to assist with the start up of daycare services and should therefore be useful here.
Included there are information, resources, and links claiming to get you started on becoming a successful daycare provider.
Best regards
Vinod
Dear Sabina,
I have here a link which will give you an idea about the Philippines' education system.
http://www.teep.deped.gov.ph/
In this website, they have the following stories:
1. Best Practices: Beginnings
2. reading Strategies
3. Supporting Indigenous People's Education
4. Helping your child succeed
Please visit this link and give me some feedback.
Best regards,
Junjun
Hi
The plan looks maybe too comprehensive, with too many like titles, such as Objectives/Goals/Mission etc. I appreciate your vision, but can't see any funder thinking 'global'.
I would keep it very local. Put some numbers in - such as number of families in the catchment area, number of children (both totally and those under 5). Also where do the children go after Daycare? Are there schools nearby?
Some of the plan also conflicts. An example of this is the Goal to offer "free childcare centre" but then later on talk of admission and monthly fees.
Regarding splitting the 2 programmes into different plans, I agree in part. I would have a joint plan for the building, and then have seperate plans for the operation.
Regarding some of the wording/language in the plan, I would recommend changing it to be more realistic. For example - to have "state of the art facilities" will be close to impossible here in Nepal and certainly would be a waste of funds to attempt. People accept the situation in Nepal, as in mnay other countries, and will set their expectations accordingly.
Please understand that I am fully behind this project and think it is a great idea to combine the needs of the community into one building, but we need to be 'realistic' in both our aims and approach.
I will gladly help in working to seperate out the plans.
Simon
