Help to improve the quality of the knitting wear for export

Sabina observed that the women can now produce any type of woolen products - according to design and colors requested - but the quality of the products is not sufficiently high to offer them for export on a large scale.
Do you have any ideas of how to help improve the quality of the knit wear?

Could you post some pictures of the products? Maybe we could see how they compare to other hand-knit goods, for example, shape, color, type of yarn, design.
Susan
of course I will post some pictures by tomorrow.

Hello all,
The woven items are beautiful! The document says that the wool is of high quality. Does that mean that it is very soft? I find that wool can be somewhat itchy. I don't know if the items are lined but perhaps a lining in a very soft and light material may improve the product?
And perhaps the vibrant scarves could be embellished further?
In terms of presentation, what if each item was presented in unique packaging, something that reflects local character? And include information about the care and craftsmanship that goes into each piece, something to make the uniqueness of each item stand out.
Am I on the right track in terms of improving quality?
Mika
Or is it a matter is consistency in design?
Mika
Dear Mika,
First of all ,thank you for joining our team.
You are very in right track in term of quality improve.
Yes, at the present ,the material which we using are little itchy as it is very starting stage. We cannot offer expensive material . But each products except muffler are lined with soft material. I have seen most of other exporters here in Nepal are using similar type of wool and lining. We can use different wool type according to customers demand.
Regarding packaging i need some suggestion what could be . is it like
"100% pure wool"
"made in nepal"
"handknitted by underpreviliged women from yoshinkhel"
please advice
regards
Sabina
Dear Mika,
Let me also welcome you first! And thanks for your suggestions :)
2 things came to my mind with regard to your posting:
1. Maybe you could help write a text that the women could add to the products? I think all three items that Sabina mentioned should also be included, but in a nice text with nice formatting and maybe a picture of the community. What do you think?
2. Maybe it would be nice if the women could make the packaging themselves as well? It is not too difficult to make paper by hand or maybe they or some neighbours have other ideas? Of course we should ask for a higher price then because it is also work, but makes it more attractive as present - the products would then stand out more...
Looking forward to your response and ideas!
Best, Angelika
Hello Sabina and Angelika, thank you for the welcome =)
I would be glad to help write text for packaging with Sabina's suggestions. With regards to the hand knitting, maybe including something about how each item has the unique value of something that is hand made as opposed to machine made or mass produced, like:
"Help support underprivileged women from Yoshinkhel
with this unique hand knitted product."
I can design an image file with attractive text hopefully later tonight or tomorrow morning, something basic to start with, and then make changes and additions that you'd like.
Until then,
Mika
Tks Mika.
We are waiting to see your design.
Well! Angelika regarding packaging , in general here, people use plastic bag for packing. However, we could try to find some unique or new ideas from neighbour.
These are in term of packaging when goods are ready to export.
Neighours are requested to give more advice to improve in quality of products color match, patterns, design , type of yarn etc.
For information to all, currently these all products are knitted with double line wool.
I posted more pictures in another task. Here I attached same for ready reference.
Sabina
Hello all!
I came up with two very basic designs to start with. I will attach each design individually. Sorry they are too large to place in this post for easier viewing.
Please let me know what you think, and if I can be of any assistance.
After today, I be away for a holiday until next week, but will try to check messages if I get a chance.
Until then, best wishes! :-D
Mika
And here is the second design...
Designs are perfect .I like second one most. Let us know what other neighbour think.
Well , i m little bit confused whether there should be product name or product code. :-?
Sabina
Hi...
I think the second one looks more organized. Also, i agree with Sabina dee in having product code rather than product name as it doesnt seem possible to give a name to each product.

Khushbu
Hi there,
I really like your designs Mika! Thanks for your help!
I was thinking in addition there could be a little note with some information about Yoshinkhel and the project added to the package. What do you think? Maybe people who buy would also like to help in other ways? Via Nabuur or directly...Who would be willing to write such a short info?
Best, Angelika
Hello =)
I'm attaching another version. Is this what you mean by product code? I have just used a simple bar code font here, I don't know how to make real bar codes that you can scan into an inventory.
