Status:

Step:

SACDS has already started a knitting program in Yoshinkhel.
The 1st group of women are still knitting sample pieces for the local market and tourists which will send to tourist area for marketing through Suman ( Andrew's Guide)
The 2nd group has begun to knit order pieces of exporters from today (Mar 7in March) .With this work , they will soon get a good wageincome.
From this, wWomen have agreed to contribute set aside RS 1.00 to RS 10 per piece (depending on size) on small and big piece) for children education from their earnings by knitting.

Dear Sadbina and Deepshi,
I really like the idea of having this training skills program because it involves people to work. It also encourages them to have other source of income. Hope this project will benefit a lot of women in the community as possible.
Best regards,
Junjun
Dear Sabina,
There are so potential in your community that can make the people make a living. One example is fiding local crafts that can be sold to market like hotels and restaurants frequented by tourists. It's just a matter of coordinating it with the local businessmen in your area.
What particular product do you have in mind when you think of Yoshinkel?
Best regards and hoping for your response soon.
Junjun
Hello Junjun,
Currently we are searching market for knitting products. We found some local business but very discouraging that they are not willing to pay good cost for our products. H'ever we will continously trying to get good business for our products so that the profit we gain from this could use for our educational program and child care program.
Our main products are Woolen Jumpers, Mufflers, Caps, Socks and gloves in different sizes with different patterns n design knitted by best quality imported newzealand wool and tibetan wool.
Netherland, Belgium, Germany,UK ,USA, Spain,Sweden (most of European countries) are the major export markets for Nepalese Woolen Products.
I m sure one day our women from Yoshinkhel can form a woolen product business.
Tks n hope to hear from you.
Best regards
Sabina
Dear Sabina,
I am very happy that the potential of your community's knitting project is very big. I hope this will be a great step toward alleviating your village's income-potential. As for your email to me, I have answered that via email (please see your inbox) regarding my comments and suggestions.
It's hard however, knowing that you don't have a facilitator guiding you. I hope Nabuur will find a new one soon.
Best regards and more power!
Junjun

Hi,
Can we have a pic uploaded of the goods I may have a few leads interested in selling here in Australia.
Thanks,
Simone
I have a number of buyers and am happy to set up and assist in managing an Ebay store... I have a link to a site with free patterns
www.knittingpatterncentral.com
Can I make requests of the kind of things I think would be quite saleable in the Australian market and if I source patterns etc can you look at those as design options?
Also I have come across a very exciting project called 'Knit for Life' which is a Non=profit org. They are doing exactly what we'd like too but 1 year down the track and on a larger scale.
Based around they're business model I think we should look at breaking it into smaller steps and following their lead.
I have just added info on this project to the wiki...
Simone.
Hi Simone,
It sounds like a great opportunity to get in contact with the "Knit for life" project and see what their experiences were. Do you have any contact details?
Kind regards,
Angelika
Hi Simone,
Please post some pictures or designs of things which are seleable in your place so that I can instruct the knitter to try some design . Then after I will post the picture what they knit and you can decide whether it will be okay.
Hope this will work.
regards
Sabina
Dear all,
As we now have a News Feature on the Nabuur website I will finish this task. If you have other, general comments to the knitting project or anything else and think it doesn't really fit in any task you can write it in the chat :)
